Good luck Liz , like Jim I took mine on a Friday night which gave me the weekend to deal with any problems that I had, I will just say that if you can get injections instead of the tablet then you will find that better. Dave.

Hi, I was on it for a bit over a year I think - it worked well up to the end then just stopped working. I agree you must take as much folic acid as you are told to - however I figured out it was the folic acid making me a bit queasy (shortly after taking it), so I dropped it to a still reasonable level.
I was lucky, I didn't really get any nausea or stomach probs from methotrexate.
I agree with the others, the higher the dose the more you feel tired so it's best to find the lowest level it works at.

Good luck with it - you hear a lot of worrying things but we're all different, you just have to try things I guess, they won't make you stick with it if the side effects are too bad.

Just make sure you have regular Liver Function Blood Tests whilst on Methotrexate.

Hi all

Thanks for the replies.

I took two doses (on wednesdays) then went for bloods the day after the second dose. Felt ok, no nausea not too bad. But then the consultant phoned because my liver function tests were sky high! She told me to stop taking them and have a retest - they’ve came down to nearly normal.
She put it down to me having a cough/cold. She also told me not to go for bloods for a couple of days after a methotrexate dose cos that can give false readings.

I started them again last night, feel fine today. I’ll go for bloods a week on friday.

Interestingly my psoriasis started improving as soon as I stopped the acitretin!

That’s good that the liver function returned to normal  Thumb and good that they are keeping a close eye on you ... strange that the Psoriasis improved as soon as coming off the acetretin

Hopefully methotrexate will be the one for you and your liver function doesn’t drop again.
Thanks for your update I have my fingers crossed for you

Hi, I was on Methotrexate for about 18 to 24 months and after my blood test I was told that I needed a liver biopsy, which I had, the result's said that the methotrexate had scared my liver slightly so I was taken off of it and put back onto Acitretin.

It's strange how the drugs affect us all differently ....you would think that they would all work the same Confused

Wow that sounds scary. Hope you’re ok now.
I had bloods done on friday and haven’t heard anything so I assume they’re ok!

But my psoriasis seems to be improving already, definitely less red and scaly.

Great news that you are seeing an improvement already, it's not surprising as Methotrexate it can work quite quickly, let's hope you get clearance soon, and your blood results remain  good  Thumb
