oh my the discipline needed for such a diet... that said, I'll be following your progress to see how it goes for you. Eons ago I tried the Pagano treatment but couldn't follow through. Are you putting American saffron in your teas as well? It's on the list I believe.

Hello artemie,

No, I am not using the American saffron.  I do have Pagano's book, and have read it.  I am not following that diet as it allows for fruits and carbs, instead I am following the Candida diet, which should hopefully kill the candida, heal the gut and clear up my psoriasis.  Rather than using American saffron, I am drinking bone broth daily which has glutamine, a gut healer.  I am however incorporating some of Pagano's tips, like not eating any nightshade foods.

Thanks for reading my thread and have a great day.   Smile

Sad  Mon-16-04-2018, 15:22 PM (This post was last modified: Mon-16-04-2018, 15:25 PM by schnauzerlover. Edited 2 times in total.)
Hello all.  Last Friday I had an illuminating experience.  I got myself ready to go shopping in the morning and noticed a swollen, reddish mound, about the size of a dime under my left eye, which I had never experienced before, so I proceeded to cover it up with makeup.  I went on with my day of shopping and noticed while in the changing room, that the mound was getting larger over the course of the morning.  I got home and pondered what was going on.

It was lunch time, I grabbed a glass of almond milk to tide me over until I could make a salad.  While I was busy putting things away and taking care of other stuff, I noticed that my eyelids started tingling, so I ran to the mirror and sure enough my eyelids were becoming red and puffy and the triangle next to my right eye was also becoming red.  Now up to this point my psoriasis had substantially lessened, my eyelids were no longer red or scaly and the patch next to my eye had just a tinge of red left and was scaleless.  It had been about 15-20 minutes after drinking the almond milk and those areas had become red and puffy.  So, I surmised that the almond milk had caused this reaction as it was all I had so far for lunch.

Now, that same morning I had almond milk for breakfast, as I had for the week prior, so I guess my body took a little while to develop a reaction.  To test my hypothesis, when I got up the next morning I checked my face.  The red mound under my eye had mostly subsided in swelling and redness and the same for my eye areas.  I drank a glass of almond milk by itself and again within 15 minutes or so, the tingling, redness and swelling returned.

So now I am removing almond milk from my diet. I had never drank it before this diet, but I had eaten almonds in my salads and as snacks.  I decided to start drinking it on the diet as a source of calcium, so now I will probably have to go to a calcium supplement instead.  :(  Bummer, I liked almond milk and will miss it.

However, this "elimination diet" has convinced me it is a good testing ground to see what triggers a reaction.

As a side note, on Wednesday I will begin taking anitfungals.  One of them will be coconut oil, which is a good thing as it contains substantial calories, and that will make up for the calories I will lose by removing almond milk from my daily intake.  Now, I have taken coconut oil before, and it is slightly nauseating to me.  I put it into a glass of warm water and gulp it down to get past the nauseating effect.  Gotta suck it up and take it for the benefits.   Whip

Thanks for reading and have a great day.   Wave

Thanks for the update ....that's quite a reaction to almond milk, it's a good job you hadn't eaten anything else so it was easy to apportion blame to it
Has everything returned to normal with your eyes and lids now ?
It seems as if you are getting results from your diet, but I hope you are managing to maintain your weight rather than lose anymore Thumb
Interesting read thank you

Hello jiml,

The newly formed mound under my left eye is almost gone, the redness and swelling on my eyelids has reduced, but it is still there.  Hopefully in a few days it will subside.

I am weighing myself everyday and have been 109-110 lbs., so my weight loss has leveled off.

I have started lifting weights for my arms, to fill in those hollow spaces with some muscle.  It seems the universe is scheming to get me into physical shape as well as clean up my diet.  Dastardly, conspiring universe!   Wink

Hello everyone.  Today is "A" day, for antifungal day.

I am now adding 3-4 antifungals to my daily intake.  I already had pau d'arco tea and took a resveratrol supplement.  At the very end of the day I will also take an oil of oregano pill.  Another option is coconut oil, which has capryllic acid.  I think I will wait till later on in the week to do that though.  I don't want to overdo the antifungals and cause an abrupt candida die-off, which would leave me feeling of having the flu/hungover.  This is apparently due to the toxins (acetaldehyde) given off by dying candida, which I am trying to address by taking pantethine, which converts the acetaldehyde into acetyl CoA, which is good for the body's metabolic function.

As for my relapse due to the almond milk reaction, it has mostly subsided.  The "new" mound under my left eye is gone, my eyelids and the triangle next to my eye are barely red, not inflamed or scaly.  As a side note, with all the peeling going on with my right eye's crow's feet area, the crow's feet there are now barely noticeable.  It looks like someone took an eraser and erased them!  That however is not the same for my other eye, so I now have lopsided crow's feet.  LOL.   Big Grin

On a side note, as I recently discovered almonds were a trigger for my case, I though I would try out a nightshade food to see what that would do to me.  As the onset of my psoriasis coincided with my increased intake of salads for lunch (4 times a week), I suspected the tomatoes were the culprit.  Last night I had a green pepper along with my cheese/tortillas-less turkey fajitas and got no reaction.  I will try a tomato later on this week to see how that goes.  Hopefully I can add tomatoes and green peppers back to my diet as I love them in my salads and as sides with my meat at dinner.

I also have gotten over my cravings for rice, potatoes and pasta as sides for dinner.  I am loving the low-carb vegetable sides with meat.

Thanks for reading and have a great day.  Wave

I forgot to mention earlier that I have also added an l-glutamine supplement to my daily intake.  It occurs naturally in bone broth, which I have every morning, however I though adding an l-glutamine supplement would help further heal my gut.

I decided to test out if tomatoes would cause a reaction and had some with my avocado salad today for lunch, and I experienced no reaction.  So that is two nightshade vegetables in three days with no reaction.  Hopefully I can add them back to the menu as it opens up so many more flavor options.  I will keep my fingers crossed.

Oh and that mound under my left eye is gone, the patch next to my eye is barely there and my eyelids are almost back to normal.  Also the patches in my hairline have lost their redness and thickness and now I just have flaking skin there.  So, doing good.  Thumb

Hello everyone.  My tomato test produced a reaction on the fourth day, so I will not be having tomatoes again.  :( My daily lunch salads are pretty boring without tomatoes.  So I am back to healing my inflammation in the typical areas.  Hopefully by tomorrow it will be almost gone.

Tomorrow will be "P" day, for probiotics.  I plan on taking them after lunch as I have pau d'arco tea and coconut oil, which are antifungal in the morning and also take an oil of oregano pill (antifungal) right before I go to bed.  Lunchtime would be the best spacing between the probiotics and antifungals, so they don't cancel each other out.

So far, I have not felt any "die-off" symptoms, so hopefully this gradual attack upon the candida won't cause the dreaded rapid die-off that leaves people feeling hungover or with the flu.  The candida will be like a fog in a pot of water that is slowly warmed up, until its goose is cooked.  It won't know what hit it!

Thanks for reading and have a great day.   Smile
