Hi my name is Georgie. I'm 25 yrs old. I have been living with this for 5 years and it only seems to get worst at times. I used to be very confident since I work out and love the beach. But psoriasis destroyed it all. My psoriasis has really affected my mental health. I tried accepting it but I just cant sometimes. I have to learn and have hope. Thank you.

Hi Georgie and  Welcome to the club. You have found a great place to learn how others deal with this awful disease, you don’t say if you are seeing a dermatologist or if you are struggling through on your own .

If you are seeing one, phone them and tell them how it’s affecting your life and mental well-being as well as your skin they should give you a different treatment that might work ....but we are all different and you have to work your way through the various treatments to find one that works.
There is a treatment that will work for you but you must let the dermatologist know if the one you are prescribed stops working.....but always stress to them how badly it's affecting you and you might get bumped up the treatment ladder faster

If you’re not seeing a dermatologist tell your doctor you want to be referred to one, they have a lot more to offer than a general doctor

It is something I hope you can come to terms with, and you should find talking with other sufferers here can be beneficial ..good luck

Jim

Hello Georgie  Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

Psoriasis does have a nasty habit of getting you down and can play nasty with ones self esteem. What you have to do is not easy, but it's learn to accept that it's with you for the rest of your life.

But not all is doom and gloom as it can be managed, and you need to work with a dermatologist to find what will work for you to keep in control of it.

If you can share with family, friends and colleagues you will find it helps, and of course talking with our members at Psoriasis Club will help (probably the most as we know what you are going through)

I suggest you fill in a DLQI which you can find here: Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) and take it to you doctor or preferable dermatologist as it will show them how psoriasis is effecting you mentally.

You are at the age I first got it and it knocked me for six, and knowing what I know now I wish I had stuck with my dermatologist and pushed harder for better treatment. I also wish that I had shared more with my family and friends instead of trying to keep it to myself. Things are a lot better today than they were then and it is accepted and spoke about a lot more, plus you have Psoriasis Club, I wish I had that many years ago.

Regards.

Fred.

Hi Georgie welcome to the club, P is a real pain to have but treatments have come on fantastically in the last few years and some really great inmates on here will answer any questions that you have on P. This site does not have adverts or conmerchants selling miracle cures, just don't let it get you down.
