Enough to put anyone off trying a bio the way you describe the needle as a "Slicer" Scare

I've never been a fan of pen type injections, but understand your reason for using them.

Good luck Kat, hopefully the "Slicer" will pay off in the end. Big Grin

Okay maybe I exaggerated just a little....  Blush

(BUT.. only a little!!  That needle is evil!  Big Grin )

Honestly the injection isn't that bad, just compared to the other two I've had it's not great. Glad I didn't have that after injection thing this time and so far no reaction.

@Caroline - I think the other injections (Stelara and Cosentyx) spoiled me a bit as there was MAYBE a small little pinch feel but no medicine stinging or anything at all afterwards.  The last injection (Taltz) the pain went on for a week but that was due to having a reaction.  Also I was only on Cosentyx for a short bit and felt relief in the joints.

OH I should add, I did make sure NOT to press down against the skin this time!  I do think that helped a bit as I was putting perhaps too much pressure before.

It looks good to me kat, I hope it is the taltz working ...what a shame that the injections are so uncomfortable for you ..but I guess if it works it will be worth it in the end ...and hope it starts to work on the arthritis soon Thumb

Thanks Jim!

Yeah, I'd have preferred one of the other ones to work but hey, if it works then I won't complain (well not too much, maybe)

I think the Zyrtex has helped quite a bit, I would itch at night and now not so much. I'm sure it has helped with the healing by leaving it alone. Time will tell how much of it is Taltz. I also hope to see some joint improvement soon. Beginning to wonder again if it's something else going on.

Ok just to add real quick.

During the first injections, I didn't notice any type of reaction. However, I don't spend a lot of time looking at my stomach.

Two weeks ago, I had a reaction that I noticed immediately as I had some pain that lingered so I was checking it often. The first day it was like a wasp or bee sting, a bit puffy and white around the injection site. The day after it was red and then grew and continued to be a bit painful (sore to the touch, irritated if something rubbed against it, sore if I laid on it, that type of thing) It lasted for about a week, with the last couple of days the pain and redness diminishing.

I didn't notice anything yesterday after the injection (but since no pain, I didn't look honestly) but today I do have that puffy white around the injection site. No pain however. So I "may" have had this each time and just not noticed. That's what I'm more hoping anyway. I won't be updating more until after the weekend, but I'll let you know if that's all it is or if it does like last time and becomes that painful rash. Since there is no pain this time though, I am thinking it won't do that (and definitely hoping it doesn't!)

Kat, I should have responded earlier but I haven’t been on the forum in a bit.

I have been on Taltz since May 2017 and my skin cleared up within 9 weeks and I continue to be completely clear.

The injections do hurt a bit but I’ve gotten used to it. Always in my stomach (I alternate sides) - there is a sting and a bit of discomfort after but it always goes away in a day.

So if it seems to be working for you, stick with it. A day or so of some discomfort is well worth it for completely clear skin.

Wishing you success in your journey to conquer this SOB!

Sheryl

Thanks Sheryl!

Sorry I didn't respond sooner but I was out of town over the weekend. I hope it works as well for me as it has for you!

The redness from the last injection is fading and never had any pain associated with it, nor did it spread much, I could feel a bit of a lump under the redness. But it's a common side effect so I'm guessing I may see it often. I just hope not like the one from before where it actually hurt and was sore (didn't like that one!)

I can easily handle the discomfort from the injections (although I will complain about them!! Tongue ) I don't say it to try to dissuade anyone from trying Taltz, only to give information and help others be prepared. The one thing I like better about Taltz is that the pen is quicker than the pen for Cosentyx…. sadly however, from my understanding it's also one of the reasons it stings quite a bit since the medicine is entering quickly. If it wasn't for some mobility issues, I think I'd definitely take the syringe over the pen for Taltz if I could as that could be better controlled.

But the main thing is finding what works. Not sure yet if this is it for me or not. I definitely see an improvement however I did have an "itchy" weekend (didn't take any Zytrec so that could be why) But I definitely appreciate the information, the support and the well wishes!!! Bigarm
