Hi, I have just come across this site whilst trying to research the difference between dovobet/dovonex.

I have today been diagnosed with severe nail psoriasis on both my fingers & toes. I also have a few minor small plaques on my body.

My consultant, this morning has advised I take Acitretin but I need to have the blood tests first. So today he prescribed Dovobet , & without realising, I left the pharmacy with Dovonex.

Is there a major difference between the 2 & the outcomes expected ?

Should I go back & get it changed?

Thanks for any help

Hi and welcome Welcome to the club. In answer to your question. Yes there is a difference.
Dovobet has an active ingredient which is a steroid
Dovonex is a vitamin D derivative....
I would go back and get what was prescribed as steroid ointment creams will probably be more effective, if it's for your nails I would ask for the gel version as this can be soaked down the affected nails..
I have tried both and Dovabet, was more effective for me

I hope you enjoy your visits here we are a small and friendly group of sufferers with the membership having a great experience of the various treatments available. I would suggest you look through the prescribed treatment and introductions threads and read what has worked or not worked for others.

You are more than welcome
Stay in touch there are some interesting articles on here
It's a very safe environment to discuss psoriasis and related matters
There is also a good off topic section for members to let their hair down, you will find discussion threads and informative stuff along with a few good jokes .
Hope to see you back again with an update on how the treatment is working, or just to view members posts
Regards jim

Yes there is a big difference between the two, you have probably found this thread but it explains the difference. Dovobet And Dovonex (What's the difference ?)
So yes like Jim said you should get it changed.

Re Acitretin Mickey has explained more here: Acitretin

Hope that helps.
