Yes it's true there are a lot of comorbidities with psoriasis.

*I think you will find the site you visited is not like Psoriasis Club and run by patients, it's run by money and we are the only psoriasis website run by patients. Just saying.  Whistle

Yes, Fred, you are quite correct. The ask for donations with pop ups and are sponsored by several of the big pharma's. So yes, I agree. Even though it says it's patient run, it is heavily influenced by companies.

Any other comorbidities that I should be aware of?

Wintrman.

I would say No. Wait until you have a problem then check, if not you could end up thinking you have all sorts of things wrong.

Smile

This old thread mentions some: Psoriasis associated with a variety of medical comorbidities

If you put "comorbidities" in the Search you will find more. *You may need to play with the spelling "co morbidities" "comorbid" etc.

Have fun, but I would still wait and see.

Hi Fred,

I hear ya with the sit and wait. I sometimes wonder if I am psychosomatic myself.  Truth is though, with all the issues I have going on right now (PTSD, Diabetes, Psoriasis, Psoriatic Arthritis) I, or any doctor would be hard pressed to say one symptom or another is directly attributed to one condition or the other. I just want to be prepared for any other issues that may arise in the future. I am a prime target for many conditions associated with all my diagnoses. Well.....no more. I am done sitting by and letting things happen. No more letting others take control of my health, my destiny. It's time I took care of myself and fully insert myself into the decisions concerning my health. I am angry. I am terrified. I am a hot mess. I have to sort this out and make a concrete plan with my GP, Psychologist, Psychiatrist and any other person that gets dragged into the mess I call a life. Sadly, the stress of dealing with all of this profoundly affected my PTSD. I am having more flashbacks and they are debilitating all on their own. They are even happening at work! Fortunately, I work in a situation where I can hide what has happened. How long I can hide it, I don't know. But dammit! I am gonna fight, learn, take charge and put things into action, if it kills me!!!

Sorry to have dumped on ya, Fred. But thanks for listening.

Cheers,
Wintrman

You're not dumping on me Wintrman, if it helps you to talk then I (and I'm sure a lot more members) are happy to listen.  Smile

We all have different ways of getting on in our lives, and I'm a firm believer of arming yourself with information when it comes to making a decision about a new treatment but for me I prefer the suck it and see approach.

I'm lucky and never experienced PTSD though I did suffer from bad depression many years ago, so I get a little idea of where you are coming from in trying to sort things out in your life.

I hope your plan works and you can at least get on top of one problem, be it psoriasis or diabetes one at a time would be my approach. But I'm not you so all I can do is give my thoughts and offer to listen if it helps.

If all else fails you can always go to [Group Specific] and chill out in Caroline's giant bean bag whilst she's in the office.  shhh

Well that is about it. (There is more, but we will not tell you…. Hihihi Snigger)

There was a webinar yesterday evening, organised by the Dutch psoriasis association. I was surprised, it was amazingly good. Still lots of things that I didn’t agree with, but there seems to start a change to a more patient driven approach.
Anyway, what I saw over there was that the doctor who was interviewed  showed a very interesting figure of a tree. A psoriasis tree.
Above the ground the stylistic crown of psoriasis flakes, but under the ground there was a whole root system which showed the possible comorbidities. Maybe the will place a version of the webinar on the website, then I will try to make a picture in orde to show it to you.
He stated also: “It is possible that you can get a comorbidity, but there no ‘must or will’. “

Hi Caroline,

With all my other diagnoses, it would take a genius doctor to figure what symptoms I am experiencing is related to psoriasis or another disease. I just hope they can help alleviate the symptoms, regardless of the source. If I am lucky, they might be able to figure out this mess I call a body.

cheers

Ok....I am stopping looking on the net. I am in full on attack mode trying to make everything "right" and things are just not moving fast enough for me. I have been looking everywhere to see what's normal and how I can return to as near as normal as I can. Everywhere I turn I am running into information that makes me ask more questions. I am sure my GP is sick of me by now.

NoNo NoNo Angry Angry Would it have hurt my GP to tell me I have metabolic syndrome? Like seriously??? I just wanna put my foot someplace in his anatomy!!!

So now I am done. Done looking. Done educating. Cuz every time I do I wind up raging and my mind thinking very unkind things.

All I can say is if you are looking for anything related to psoriasis it is here, and I work very hard to keep us updated with genuine news Psoriasis In The News

If it's not here I'm always happy to listen to our members and they are all very welcome to post their own experiences, but I set this place up originally because I got fed up with unreliable information or places just wanting my money.

I don't like blowing our own trumpet, but our members have made Psoriasis Club what it is and over the past 11 years we have built up a wealth of information all based on fact and our members thoughts.

You have to be very very careful with what is posted on-line, most of it is designed to suck you in.

I don’t know about metabolic syndrome but it sounds serious.

Personally I think that only when you are knowledged, you can make sensible decisions.
And for getting knowledged, you will have to ask, search and read.
