I have recently suffered sore legs and numbness. My doctor's initial diagnosis is the valves in my veins are not holding so the blood is not able to get back up to my heart properly. This is causing me pain and burning sensations. I have some scans to do and I am going to see some vein specialists. LAtely when I wake up my left leg and now my left hand is numb.

I started Cosentyx about two months before getting these symptoms. I asked them but they say no reports of this being associated.

Has anyone experienced these symptoms while on a biologic?

Thanks

I have problems with my veins and have also been on Cosentyx and a couple of other biologics (Stelara and Taltz) and I didn't notice any increase with my venous insufficiency or primary lymphedema (I've received both diagnosis in the past)

That doesn't mean it can't affect you as your problems are different than mine and also we are all different.

Hope you find out what is going on.

Not something I have experienced using the bio's, but I did have to have my veins removed because of varicose veins. Not nice , but It was great after they removed them.

*Please note I removed the link you posted and can I remind you that we have a No Link policy at Psoriasis Club.

I’ve had varicose veins lasered, but it was way before I went on bios.

I’ve also had numbness in my hand which was carpal tunnel syndrome - I had the op done. Apparently carpal tunnel is indicative of psoriatic arthritis.

This was before I went on bios too.

I don’t think I’ve noticed anything like you describe associated with being on them.

I hope they can get you sorted and more comfortable soon.

I've recalled reading that Remicade & Humira could have peripheral neuropathy as a rare side effect.  But no matter the cause of this, I think that the doctor you should see is a neurologist.  I hope your primary care doctor will refer you to one.

For the veins, are you wearing compression stockings?  Do they help?

I didn't know that. I had cubital tunnel in both arms and had to have surgery to move the nerve so I didn't have the numbness in my hands.

It is amazing how things can tie in together so you just really never know how it can affect us individually.

I found a well documented research article about biologics causing all sorts of neurological disorders from MS to nerve sheath delamination. As Fred says no links allowed.

Are they permanent changes or reversible, do you know? As that’s somewhat alarming.. I will do my own research and have a read.
