Don't know if it helps any but here are some of the side affects with Acitretin:

Very common:
Over 80% of patients experienced: hypervitaminosis A as e.g. dry lips and possibly inflamed lips (using moisturisers or 'emollients' from the start of treatment can help to relieve dry skin problems.)

40 – 80% of patients experienced: dry mucous membranes of mouth and nose, peeling of skin, especially the palms of the hands and soles of the feet, rhinitis.

10 – 40% of patients experienced: nose bleed, scaling and thinning of healthy skin with increased sensitivity, erythema, pruritus, sensation of “burning skin”, sensation of “sticky skin”, dermatitis, hair loss, inflammation of the nail wall, nail fragility.

Thanx Fred for this info it does help looks like will be phoning docs on monday

I'm in 25mg a day. I think I am starting to see changes but not sure. My psoriasis has definitely not gotten any worse, that's for sure. I'm sticking with it for as long as possible.
Good luck

I'm pleased you are sticking, as you say yourself you have to give the treatment a chance to work ..... If the side effects are bearable live with it the chances are it will work Thumb

Kelly I'm sorry I forgot you was using Acitretin when I said "I hope it passes for you Longtime Sufferer, and keep updating both of you as it is bound to be helping others"

You don't have it in your bio Wink

Micky who originally started this thread hasn't logged-in for over a year, so I'm grateful to you all for keeping this thread updated.

Just for the record those with Acitretin in their bio are:
Mickyfinn007
Kat
Longtime sufferer
JohnW

Sorry I'm going a bit off topic, I'll shut up now. Rolleyes

I have just been prescribed Aciteritin 10mg daily + 3 x weekly UVB light treatment ( which i have been getting for 3 weeks ) took my first capsule this morning (09.00) and am currently sitting in a darkened room coz my eyes are sore with the light. was prescribed the Aciteritin after six months on PUVA / 20mg Methoxypssoralen ( complete fail ) Hoping for better results this time, 3 weeks of UVB treatment has already made improvements.Huh
