Hello John Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

I can't help you with Fumaderm myself but others will be along who know more, though what I do know it does take time and you need to get the dose right.

Personally I would forget the seaweed thing, you will hear all sorts of things but there is very little proof of things like seaweed working.

Should the Fumaderm not be suitable for you there are other prescribed treatments that will help, but I would say have a chat with the other fumaderm users first.

Regards.

Fred.

Hi John and welcome to the forum... I am on Fumaderm it sounds to me as if you may have gone to fast with the increase in the dose.... I think the answer rather than give up on the tablets is to stop for a day or two until your stomach calms down. Then start on a lower dose.... say back to one a day .... Then if your stomach stays under control start the build up again..
It will, take a time to work it is not a quick fix but when it does work the symptoms will get less and you will find it amazing
When are you taking your tablets? Are you taking them with meals.
You must take them with food and flushed down with lots of fluid. Don't be downhearted that the psoriasis isn't clearing the fact you are having stomach/ intestinal problems is an indication that it may be starting to work but you will have to be carefull when you take them to take food and fluid
I hope it will work for you as it is a great drug and the symptoms will, calm down as your body learns to accept the drug.
Do return and keep us informed
Jim

Hi John, I'm not any help when it comes to Fumaderm but I hope you get to feeling better soon.

@Jim - I know from this thread and others that an upset stomach is one of the side effects, especially at first. Is there anything that can be taken for that either over the counter or prescribed by a doctor to help ease the symptoms? Just wondering as I have thought that a time or two when stomach problems have been mentioned.

You are right somebody on here suggested a herbal tea a few days ago .... But I can't remember who it was .... I will sleep on it and return tomorrow
@john whatever you do John keep well hydrated if stopping the tablets for a couple of days doesn't calm your problem then you should tell the specialist who prescribed it. But I'm hopeful stopping for a couple of days will reduce the problem

You could use Yoghurt when taking the tablets. That is an advice that I have from my doctor.

Also for John. If you really wanna try DMF (the working substance of Fumaderm) you could also try to order Psorinovo from the Netherlands. This works differently as it has a coating against releasing in the stomach and will slowly release in your intestines thus reducing the problems.
