Good to hear annie, I think the biggest thing is the side effects. If you don't get them and have a positive reaction it certainly looks to me like I will have a period of respite. Now I am in the system and everything is under control I feel I have time to investigate and understand treatments and possibly plan longer term care such as next steps, what if MTX stops working etc etc. For the time being I am enjoying the positives.

What amazes me from all of this is how my GP continually prescribed steroid based creams with a very occasional request to see me such as once in five years.

Dermatologists, and this forum are the way to go. Here you can get information and user experience on drugs that even your dermatologist but certainly your GP doesn't have all the data on. OK your dermatologist should but lets be honest, they are not always candid.

Pingu great to hear your positive spin on methotrexate  and I would also like to thank you for coming and updating your threads as often as you do. It is very helpful to yourself as a reference and others for inspiration .
I'm so glad that you are now experiencing as a long term sufferer the same as me. The joy of having a clear skin, unless you have been covered with it ...it is hard to explain the freedom you feel when you don't have to wear light clothes and you can wear just what you want .
It is liberating..... And if methotrexate has done that for you ..... I will put that down as a success and long may it last

My doctor was like yours and prescribed steroid creams to me for years without asking to see me  Confused

Good luck and I look forward to your next update  Thumb

I'm not giving up. I *hate* taking it, but I'm so tired of answering "what's that on your hand?" a hundred times a day. (I work with kids, and sleeves only hide so much).

I, too, had read many horror stories about MTX, but I also know that everyone responds to medicine differently. So far, so good for me as far as side effects, so I'm optimistic.

Sorry some of the horror stories are from me Annie, but as you say we are all different and react differently to drugs.... I think if the side effects weren't so bad with me , I would have stuck with methotrexate because it certainly cleared my skin
So yes stick with it Thumb

Some are certainly true Annie, for instance I could not cope with MTX, it might have helped, I even do not know but I felt so bad that I had to stop. Smile

Sorry for the delay in reporting.

It's Friday and I am reporting from sunny Rhodes.

Had my 20mg MTX with no side effects.

This is the first holiday ever where I wasn't bothered about an improvement in my psoriasis as the MTX is working great. The old areas look like new skin and are a little paler than the rest of my skin.  As I am a hairy guy the patches on my shins are a little baldy but that will change no doubt.

I was in Africa for a few weeks before coming on holiday with my girlfriend so she hadn't seen the MTX at work. Now she says it's like a miracle and I should have had the opportunity sooner.

Tonight is Folic Acid Friday. Unfortunately still alcohol free. Would be nice to have one.  May have a shandy tomorrow.

Sent from phone apologies for typos.

Go on like this Big Grin

Guess that you don't have a phone with speech recognition. Hi hi. It would filter the errors. Wink
