MTX has about a 2 - 4 year lifespan. As I said before, if it takes 20 mg to keep you clear, you might as well look for something else. If they are only going to give enough FA for 6 days, you can still take it on your MTX day, just miss one day a week. For example, if take MTX on Friday, take FA everyday but Wednesday Smile

Of course they are attractive. Smile those side effects. You will become absolutely irresistible for women. Big Grin Tongue

Practically you can use, if it works for your, DMF for many years without the dangers of MTX. Remember MTX is basically a chemo therapy, where DMF is based on a body owned substance.

I have written this thread on DMF Dimethylfumarates and Psoriasis.

Last remarks from my side on this subject.
But you are wrong. There are apps that store the data only on your iPhone. Also e.g. Your fingerprint will be stored only on your iPhone.
Apps like Telegram and OTR encrypt all data in transfer with AES-256.
Also all data you transfer to another place, e.g. By mail you can encrypt with GPG. Currently there is no known way to decrypt if you only have the transferred data.
The only way would be to hack into an computer or iPhone and to install a Trojan horse, e.g. a keylogger.

There is an organisation in Holland, called Bits of Freedom, who educates people in the use of these tools.

This is how things are at the moment, and it is also the last time I will say something about it on this forum as otherwise it will become an endless yes vs no discussion.

I might ask about the longer term Fumaderm when I next see the consultant. Gota get this MTX started first. Why the hell not try Fumaderm first if it is less toxic.

I had to go through methotrexate first, in my opinion I think that fumaderm tends to be a second choice and offered by dermatologists that are forward thinking.
Our local hospital is a teaching hospital, I used to go in as a patient for trainee doctors to practice on. I had a good relationship with the teaching consultant. When I was struggling with methotrexate he suggested after a session that I could be offered  fumaderm or acetretin . I choose fumaderm as he had pointed me towards it  ....  But I had no idea what it was.... But it was a great decision... Tough to start with but got easy after a while and I can eat and drink what I like

If the side effects were like that it might be heavily restricted. I hoped that it would give me a warm and fuzzy feeling. It did not do this, but it did clear my psoriasis almost completely. It is a very safe drug provided the guidelines are followed, and it is working as well as ever for me after over three years.

If there is any concern about harming your liver with MTX I would be pushing hard for an alternative, be it Fumaderm or something else. You are lucky to have Fumaderm in the UK. I had to get my supply as a raw chemical from a company in Shanghai. Sadly my diy approach is much better than what is on offer in Australia for psoriasis sufferers. It is an utter disgrace.

All the best,

Bill

Thanks as always for the feedback.

I think I need to be dropping hints around Fumaderm and I can always suggest that I am suffering from some side effects on MTX. If Fumaderm is safer only an idiot would choose MTX over Fumaderm so for me priority one is get psoriasis under control then look at longer term alternatives.

Obviously I need to develope a relationship with the consultant but that might be difficult.

At the end of the day it is a patient doctor relationship, doesn't matter if we "get along". Yes it can make things easier but I do not believe it will help or hinder given that day one I am not happy due to no records being available.

Sent you a PM with publications regarding DMF. Some googling and you will find lots of information. The use of DMF is at least 40 years old, during that time lots of practical information has been gathered. Unfortunately the industries have been blinded and did not look at it. This is now changing slowly due to the succes DMF has in the treatment of MS.

Ah well I called my consultants secretary and they have received one of three letters from my previous consultant. She advised that I get my GP to fax over the other letters.

FAX umm I was at a loss as I joined the 21st century a few years ago. I mean why not email. Anyway I digress. I explained what I wanted as in a few modifications to the protocol and said I would call my GP.

A call to my GP was just as much fun. They said that they would have only sent the details received after they requested the consultation was requested, might have said before but anyway they didn't feel it necessary to provide full disclosure and the consultant can't access my records. My GPs secretary said the consultant would have to fax requesting the details. WTF! Whats wrong with me saying "Hey it would be really great and a massive help if we joined the dots and you could fax the letters to my consultant". I guess I am just thinking too hard.

Anyway, I had copies so called my consultants secretary back and emailed them across.

Also the consultant was meant to have my bloods today and sort a prescription. Guess what! No news on bloods and no prescription.

Words fail me! Well apart from all those words above these that is! Big Grin
