Wow Jim, that makes me want to move over the border! Prescription prices are higher here than in the UK, for any medicine. Even painkillers. Dovabet, for a 60g tube, cost €90.

I do have one question, if anyone can help. I took my first tablet last night. I only realised this morning that, due to the way I work, I may not be able to take it at that same time every day. Do they have to be taken at the time, or would taking it an hour late make an difference?

Move on over the costs here are less ( at the moment how long it can be sustained remains to be seen)

No I never take mine at the same time it depends when I eat when I take mine so don't worry an hour or two won't make any difference
I have sent you a PM.

I will be going back to the U/K at the end of April, so when i go back i am going to see my doctor and as about Fumaderm. Will i have to ask him to see a Dermatologist or can he prescribe them himself.
You also mention about being firm with the doctor, so can i insist on seeing the Dermotologist, if he won´t prescribe Fumaderm. Now i only have it mildly, so will that be relivant, on getting it prescribed.. Thanks again.
If you are looking for an answer to this I have moved it to can I get Fumaderm tablets to keep Ccar's thread on topic

i tried fumaderm for 5 months as due to it seeming a safer drug.  I gladly suffered all the side effectes in the hope it would clear up my P. but sadly 5 months in and on 6 tabs a day (full dose) my skin was even more inflammed and scalp was worse plus i felt horrendous on it.   Ive now started methatrexate and my skin in improving already and i feel fine.  I think we are all different and what works for one may not for another. I was on cycosplorine for a good few years and it worked wonders for me but due to cost im now no longer allowed it....good luck

Hi Debs thanks for coming back and updating us
What a shame the fumaderm didn't work for you .... But as you rightly say there's no one size fits all.

Thankfully you are now getting some relief with methotrexate and the skin is beginning to clear . I hope it will clear you well . Do let us know how it works for you , because we need as many experiences as possible ... Good or bad it may help another sufferer with their problems

Here's to a clear future for you Thumb
Jim

Good that mtx is working wonders for you. I started seeing good results within a couple of months on DMF, so toughing out the side effects for five months for a worsening disease shows incredible persistence. A crystal ball would come in handy.

Psoriasis seems to affect different people in different ways.  My situation is the direct opposite of yours.  I tried methotrexate for a couple of years, with lots of side effects plus danger to liver for prolonged use and no help for my psoriasis.  I tried Fumaderm later in my +30 year battle with the disease, result being that I am currently on a maintenance dose of 1 x 120 mg tablet every second day, with no psoriasis lesions anywhere.  At one time my body was covered +20%. I have been Psoriasis free now for approximately 4-5 years.

Hi William good to see you and good to hear you are still clear of psoriasis. It's also good to read that you have cut down to one tablet every other day and are still staying clear...
Do you have any side effects, whilst on such a low maintenance dose ?

Really good William, and on such a low dose.
Indeed DMF does not work for everyone, the "hit" rate is about 70%, so 70 out of 100 will react in a positive way to DMF.
I need a much higher dose to control my PSA, but it's working fine.
