Hello all,

I'm new to this 'sharing my Psoriasis pains with the world' concept, so please bare with me.

I'm a 39 year old retired Firefighter that was only diagnosed with Plaque Psoriasis after being burned in a structure fire in 2002. I also have Lupus Nephritis.
It has been one of the biggest challenges of my life. Today, I have roughly 80% of my body covered, not so flaky, but red.
I have tried Embrel and Otezla without success. I am currently undergoing UVB light treatment once a week. This coming week I will begin using Cosentyx.
Based on some of the responses within the group, I am feeling more confident about this treatment.

I will post my experiences as I progress with the treatment.

Thank you all.

Ric

Welcome, Ric.

Good luck with the Cosentyx. Is your lupus under control? Dimethyl fumarate has a couple of case reports of favourable outcomes with lupus, but it can be a problem with kidney damage and is not used where you are. I cannot find anything about Cosentyx and lupus, so I hope it is doubly useful for you.

Cheers,

Bill

Hello Ric,

Welcome to Poriasisclub. Thé most friendly place to be if you have psoriasis. Share and ask questions where you want to as there is always somebody with a bit of experience on what you want to know. Somebody who is suffering from the same notes.
We also have an off-topic section, where it is good to stay if you have nothing else to do. And where you can have a drink or two with somebody to chat with.

Cheers,
Caroline

Hi Rick and welcome to the funny farm, we are a happy bunch of fellow sufferers and we know what the problems are with the dam P/PsA.
We will all help as much as we can so ask any questions and have a good look around as it's probably one of the most comprehensive places for information coupled with people who have got the dam thing so we know what it's all about.
Take care and all the best with your treatment.

Hi Rick and welcome. Thanks for your service as a firefighter.

I can't offer any input however there are a lot of people here with a lot of experience who are all happy to help.

It's a friendly place and your welcome to moan as much as give us good news as you progress on your journey.

I hope the treatment works, keep us posted.

Hello Ric  Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

Don't worry about being new the concept of sharing. You will find a friendly bunch of people here and no one will make you feel uncomfortable (in the unlikely event that you do feel uncomfortable contact me or a Forum Helper) we are people just like you and we treat people the way we would like to be treated, so just dive on in.

Cosentyx is getting a lot of good reviews, don't hesitate to start your own thread in Prescribed Treatments For Psoriasis it's a very good way of keeping track of your jouny and your information could help others.

Regards.

Fred.

Thank you all for the kind words and making me fell so welcomed.

As for my Lupus Nephritis- Kidney, it is seemingly under control, as I haven't had a flare in a while.
For those wondering, the Med I am taking for Lupus is Celcept.

It's this damn Psoriasis thats bringing me down!

I will post in the appropriate section.

Please correct me if I'm posting in the wring place.

Thanks again.

Ric

Hi Ric and welcome to the Psoriasis club!

I hope your treatment works for you. There's plenty of info to be found about various treatments on this forum.  I've had a bit of UVA & UVB in the past and it worked! But apparently I've now reached my "lifetime" dose and have been moved on to Fumaderm.
I look forward to hearing how you get on Sir.

Cheers
Kit
