Hi TB , yes the NHS is crap ,I have found that the only way to get anywhere is to shout very loud ,my daughter has had a really bad deal from the NHS and it has taken me a lot of agro to get her sorted out.
Hope that you get the appointment at your local hospital soon, if I was you I would keep pestering them with letters/phone calls ,I had to resort to legal threats.
If you can get a smelly ointment called Cocois scalp ointment which contains three active ingredients, coal tar, salicylic acid and precipitated sulfur.  Cocois ointment also contains coconut oil, which helps to moisturise and soften the skin. It works great and I used to put it on at night and cover it with a shower cap then next morning give it some welly with a comb plus a shower with something like Polytar on it. Coconut oil is very good on it's own as well.

Welcome to the site TB and just have a good look around and ask any questions that you like as all the inmates have P or PsA so they can answer from experience not theory like the so called health professionals , this site set up by Fred probably has more info on P/PsA than anywhere else I can think of.
