Just a quick Hi from a newcomer.. thank you sooo much for this forum... I have found a lot of useful information.

A couple of questions please...

Is there a way to search by thread content?

I am looking for information on links with melasma and psoriasis - any ideas?

Hello and Welcome to Psoriasis Club

Only members can use the search facility, and now you are a registered member you should have full use of it. Have a look at this post on how it works: Using The Search Facility

There are no posts about Melasma, but it may be worth you starting a new thread here: Psoriasis And Psoriatic Arthritis Topics

It's good to hear you have found the forum useful, and new members are welcome to add their input. Thumb

If you do get stuck using the search facility, just let us know.

Regards.

Fred.

Thank you Fred & Troll for your welcomes!

I mention Melasma because I have suffered from this in the past and have used factor 50 sun block on my face for several years now - which has solved the Melasma. However, now that my scalp psoriasis has decided to migrate to my forehead (currently hidden by my fringe) and psoriasis on other parts of my body is getting worse, many people (including my GP) are talking about exposure to sunlight helping my psoriasis. It maybe that in order to help the psoriasis I may get a return of the melasma Huh

Sunlight will help psoriasis but it sounds like you are in a catch 22 situation. Just a thought, are you seeing a dermatologist ? if not get your GP to refer you to one as they are better suited to help you.

Yes Fred - Catch 22 indeed. As I have only ever suffered from Melasma on my face, and it was thought to be hormone related, it may be that I could expose the rest of me to sunlight but factor 50 block my face (I just don't recommend that as a spectator sport).
The GP I am seeing atm is a senior doctor in a large practice who specialises in dermatology - albeit at general practitioner level. He has recently changed my prescription from Dovonex to Dovobet and is monitoring my progress with a view to referring me to a consultant dermatologist if things don't progress as well as he hopes.
I am pleased to say that the Dovobet does seem to be helping - but my fear is that "the novelty will wear off" as it did with Dovonex.
I will keep you posted - next appointment 11 Jan.
