Thumb Hi My name is Rohan

Ive suffered for many years with Psoriasis...

My condition was limited to my legs intially and was very bad...in the last 3 years its moved to my upper body although not so bad there.

I have been through ever conventional western treatment the only ones left are lethal drugs such as 'Methotrexate'. The only effective treatment I had was UV but that was a temporary fix.

I found Chinese herbal medicine effective for a few months but the herbal concoctions had to be boiled twice a day and they smelt pretty bad!...drinking them were even harder...but you know what lengths we go to in our quest for relief from this burden we bear!

In the last 3 years I have been going to India for Ayurvedic treatment ...which almost totally clear my condition for periods of up to 6 months. These treatments consist of having your body purified through diet restriction internal medicines and twice daily massages and other external treatments. You have to stay in a clinic for 2 weeks and it can be expensive and torturous. The last time I went was around 14 months ago and I dont have time to go back.

I did have some medicine I was taking which help to control it but its run out now!.

I had almost a year of feeling human again and began to forget the pain and sorrow this illness brings!...recently my legs have got really bad and my upper body is rapidly getting worse...

Ive joined this forum because like anything you have to suffer directly to understand the trauma an illness can cause....and after a year of normality in my life Ive dropped down to earth with a bang!

Will this journey ever end ?....if not I need company to ease the pain!Wink

Hello Rohan Welcome to Psoriasis Club

Will your journey ever end ? I don't think so. You will always be looking for something, as most people with psoriasis do. Some things do help, whether it be manufactured drugs or the natural approach. But unfortunately Psoriasis is one of those things that will never go away for ever without continued treatment in my opinion.

Ayurvedic is one of those treatments that some believe in and some don't. It's a bit like Methotrexate, some say it's great and others say it's poison. I'm the latter, and would never use it again. However I wouldn't try Ayurvedic either, as it's a treatment that has no proper regulation. I have also read reports about the adverse reaction to the over use of some herbs, and even Lead Poisoning. eek

If you do need company to ease the pain, then you will find us a small but friendly group of people with a good mix of views.

Oh, and I'm the sensible one you will often find in the Off Topic section. Whistle

Regards.

Fred.

Hello Rohan,

Good to read from you and welcome on the forum.
Over here you will indeed find a versatile group of people all with their own opinions, but we all have the same kind of problems.

The forum has grown very large in the mean time, so there is a lot to read for you. Don't hesitate to ask things if you want to.

Surely take a view in the Off-Topic. A very nice section. You will find that I am the one that always disagrees with Fred, so it cannot be that he is the sensible one, that would be to easy.

But on one thing I agree with him... methotrexate.... awful stuff, stay away from it.
I myself am quite sure that you did not try everything yet, there is more, but read along.

I think I understand why Ayurvedic treatment helped. That is not because of the Ayurvedic part, but because of the diet restriction. With the right diet you can beat psoriasis, a guy named Charles has done that, but the diet is that limiting that there is no fun at all on that, and you can never leave the diet, otherwise the psoriasis will come back.
Only one thing might be able to cure it, a treatment that is currently being tried out in germany and which weapons your body by means of a kind of an immunization approach.

Hope to speak to you later on.

Caroline
