The nurse did not have all the leaflets with her that she would normally leave with a new patient - but she will bring them next visit so I will read them and let you all know what they say xxthanks

Yes it can lower your immune system, if you have had problems before then that may be the reason. But I have never known anyone being advised to avoid any foods or drink, this could be very helpful to others.

Thank you Tanlou.

Here's a copy of the Patient Information Leaflet, you can print it off or download it:

Again never heard of this being recommended, sounds like your going to feel a bit rough but you won't know if it's the Humira or not. Confused

I'm not on biologics, and have had the flu and pneumonia injections before. Someone correct me if I say anything wrong here but since biologics can lower? the immune system, it sounds like a good precaution to me. Then again, since the vaccines can at times bring on the flu (don't know about pneumonia vaccine and how it works) I don't know if that's a concern or not. I know most doctors here stress getting a flu vaccine, even for those super healthy people.

Thank you tanlou for sharing all of this as if my current meds don't work and my doc and I end up in a discussion about other treatments, this really helps with information so I know what questions I want to ask.

Yes it's best to do what they say, they have their reasons and they know more about your health than I do. Some people are more vulnerable to virus, infections, etc so they could be just taking the belt and braces approach.

If you've had no problems with the Humira shots giving you a flu or cold symptoms, then like you say you will be able to blame the others.

Tanlou you still have Fumaderm as your treatment in your profile. Wink

@Kat You are right the Bio treatments do lower your immune system, so yes you have to be little bit more careful. Having said that I'm a believer of letting my body fight the flu by itself, but like I said above some are more vulnerable than others.
