Hello all. I am Michelle vuong. I have been suffering plaque sporisasis for about 6 years. About 6 months ago, I was at my doctor office waiting to see the doctor and scratching my knee cap at the same time. A health educator saw me and told me to use duct tape. I was like " realy", why not?? And 6 month later the 24 hour itchiness is practically gone, the skin is back to normal except there is a white patch where the plaque is used to be. So far the duct tape works for me. May be someone on this site might want to try it. Good luck.

Hello Michelle,

Thank you for your suggestion and Wellcome on the Psoriasisclub forum. It is a nice bunch of friendly people over here. So enjoy and look around.

We indeed heard some time ago, that somebody was using the duct tape method.

Question: Is it painful? Do the plaques have to be quite "loose" ?

Your post is from a very strange time. Where is Modesto ca located on the world?

Cheers,
Caroline

Hi Michelle and welcome  Welcome  to the club you will find us a friendly bunch of psoriasis sufferers here exchanging views on what's working and what's not and offering support to see each other through the bad days.
Enjoy your time with us and let us know if it continues to work
As Caroline said earlier there was somebody else mentioned the use of Duct Tape not long ago... It was mentioned that pulling the tape off may damage the skin and be counterproductive. I'm open minded but some aspects of it would worry me
It's not something I would try being fairly well covered in hair as I hate taking the small plaster off after a blood test ...
I wish you luck and hope you keep coming back you can read of others experiences in the introduction section and see how others are dealing with their psoriasis

EDIT
I was wrong im sorry it was not Duct tape I was reading it was waxing strips. I just remembered it brought tears to my eyes
See here To wax or not to wax with psoriasis?

Hello Michelle  Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

Like the others said it has been mentioned before but I cant find it at the moment, all I will say is you need to be careful. If you damage the skin you could end up with the psoriasis spreading, so it would be best to try a small section and monitor the size for a few weeks before getting to carried away with it in my opinion.

EDIT: Just seen Jim's edit. Maybe it was that, but I do remember someone trying duct tape. It could have been on the old forum though.

this is how I used the tape. Before bedtime I peeled off the old one and replaced with the new one. In the morning peeled it off and a new piece after the shower. So basically I covered it day and night. It did not hurt when I peeled it off. You will be surprised the inside is moist, not dry. Before I started using the tape , the skin was thick, silvery and flaky and no hairs could visible. But now the skin is normal I could see hairs. And most of all I sleep better and no more scratching. So far, no tape, no itch.no flare up yet.

Thanks for letting us in on your technique it's an interesting idea and as long as you aren't damaging your skin and it's working it may well be a good idea, I myself don't need anything like that at the moment but I like to know of these different ideas as sometimes in my life I would have tried anything to get rid of the itch  Thumb
