Hi Cathy,

What Jim says may very well come true. You may wear shorts maybe even a bikini. Smile
The fact of the flushes is a signal that something is going on.
A flush early in the morning :-), I guess you took the medication in the evening then. Smile
It's normally one flush a day in the beginning. Later on they come more occasional sometimes at stupid moments. They are totally harmless and sometimes they even can be healthy. I am on 6x 120mg, and have them only occasional.

Bill's rule nr: 5 : No bananas when taking the medication.
I don't know if it is really true, but when I eat a banana it is mostly somewhere else on the day. Never while taking the medication.

With me my intestines can be a bit mumble on the edge of nauseous, I learned to ignore it.

Please do keep on going and keep us posted. Take your time, don't expect immediate results.

Caroline

Thanks Guys.
Well I looked like I'd been tangoed this morning when I got up, but stomach ok now. Feeling better today but not looking forward to Friday morning when I double my dose.
I think a bikini may be out of the question in the future though. Shorts maybe!!
Will stay off the bananas for now.

I hope your colour soon returned to normal when you got up [Image: GKBoLDf.jpg] that tango colour is unattractive
I'm glad your stomach problems are getting better. It will get easier as time goes on, we will encourage you as much as possible, on Friday just be sure to eat plenty, and drink to flush the tablets in,
I'm sure you will be in shorts when the weather turns warmer it is certainly something to aim for  Thumb

Hahaha, yes the redness can be very surprising. It is much worse than only a blush. It can also occur on inconvenient moments... Smile
Stay well.

Now on my 4th week on 120mg one blue tablet. First day ok. Still drinking the milk until last nights tablet taken with a bottle of beer. Whoops! Woke up at 6.30am with horrendous stomach pains. Do you think this was the beer? Back on the milk tonight!
Bloods are apparently unchanged. Another blood test this week.
Skin unchanged.

Hi Cathy,

Glad you're still going strong on your dose!

It could well have been the beer that caused your stomach cramps. I find my stomach side effects get worse with any alcohol but particularly beer....not that I let it stop me drinking completely haha!

Hope it goes better with the milk!

Whilst I'm here, I wanted to ask for some advice myself. Please let me know if I should be posting this elsewhere! I can't find much info online. Apologies for the 'too much information' on advance!....so I have had fairly severe IBS for around 14 years and it has ALWAYS been diarrhoea predominant. At its worst I was tested for Crohns and UC & having to use the bathroom up to 20 times a day, along with severe stomach cramps which caused nausea and vomiting. Although it's more under control now, me having a 'normal' day is going 3x per day.....this was pre-Fumaderm.

The majority of my nervousness when I started Fumaderm was that it would send my IBS into overdrive and I would be back to constantly needing to be near a bathroom, however, in the last few weeks I have begun to suffer from severe constipation and only able to go 1x per week-10 days. I still get stomach cramps every day but am just feeling increasingly bloated until I get to the point where I have one day with an extremely upset stomach.

I eat really well and honestly can't think of anything I've changed other than starting Fumaderm. I'm going to ask my derm about this at my next appt but wanted to ask you guys whether you've experienced anything like this too?

If appreciate any advice and sorry again for my graphic post!

Hi Kath don't worry about graphic detail we can choose to read it or not, anyway it's not that graphic. I wish I could help with some ideas, but it's not a problem I have encountered, I can't think its Fumaderm induced but its a possibility but not something I've heard before.... a week to 10 days constipated is a real worry for you. I would certainly get yourself checked out sooner rather than later.
I hope somebody else reads your post and can relate to the problems and offer some advice

@Cathy
Great your bloods are still good Thumb alcohol makes no difference to me I often take mine with a glass of beer with my evening meal, but we are all different and it seems alcohol could be the culprit with you, so I would stick with the milk,
Are you due to increase your dose again soon?

Hi Kath,

Me neither can put a link between fumaderm and the constipation, it should earlier be the other way around. So it is not logical..its weird.
Or..... It might be caused by the additional salts that are in fumaderm, but I have never heard of that, you should investigate that further.

Two 'solutions' come to my mind. The first is the most simplest, in order to keep everything flexible in your intestines you can take Vocolon or something like psyllium fibers. They keep everything smooth in your intestines.
The other thing you could do is more complex.
You could order for one time a package of Psorinovo from the Netherlands. It has the same working ingredient but no additives. And then for one period take this instead of the fumaderm. It changes nothing in the dose of DMF you get, but can perhaps exclude that the additives in fumaderm are the cause of your constipation problems.

Week 5 almost done. Suffered with diarrhoea this week but starting to settle now.
Skin starting to show signs of improvement on arms and legs which is great. Hoping to be able to get on the 3 tablets tomorrow. Seems to be side effects get worse after increasing dosage by the middle of the week and then subside. Had no option on Wed night but to take tablet with coke (as in the drink version) and really suffered next day.
Still determined to stay on it though.

Glad you are starting to see improvement!! I hope the side effects continue to settle down for you.
