Why ?? I would not know. It should be the same everywhere in the world, but it is not.

Yes Caroline is right I have two different results from tow different labs, and one says Normal is below 200, and the other says they should be between 4100 to 10500.  Confused

Yes, and with me it has to be somewhere between 0,7 and 1,5 (i will check when I am at home again, but waiting for some thunderstorms to pass, the weather is terrible and I am on the motorcycle).

Stay safe Caroline (and dry!)

I wonder why the normal range is different in different areas?

I can't speak for the rest, but the French do everything different.  Wall

Did you know the United States is États Unis

And the United Kingdom is Royaume-Uni

Yet France is still France

TRANSLATION OF THE ORIGINAL GERMAN VERSION

During the course of treatment. full blood counts (leukocyte count and differential blood count) must be monitored on a regular basis.

After starting the therapy. laboratory testing should be performed every 14 days for the first 3 months. If laboratory findings remain normal, monthly performance of blood counts is sufficient.

Blood and urinary values: To identify any possible adverse effects on liver and kidney. activity of SGOT LAST]. SGPT (ALT], gamma-GT. AP. the level of the renal function value serum creatinine of the blood. as well as urine protein and sediment should be tested prior to the start of treatment and regularly during  therapy (every 14 days during the first 4 weeks, and every 4 weeks thereafter).

Criteria for discontinuation of therapy
Leukopenia (reduction of white blood cells): Treatment with FUMADERM must be discontinued immediately in the presence of a significant reduction in leukocyte count — particularly if values are below 3,000/ul.

Lymphopenia (reduction of specific white blood cells): If the lymphocyte count drops below 500/}ul, treatment must be discontinued immediately.

If the lymphocyte count drops below 700ul, the dose must be halved. If during a follow up check after 2 — 4 weeks the absolute lymphocyte count remains below 700/ul then treatment must be discontinued. Alternative causes of lymphopenia should be excluded.

If therapy is continued in presence of severe prolonged lymphopenia, the risk of an opportunistic infection cannot be ruled out.

Other blood diseases: Treatment should be discontinued immediately and caution should be exercised if there are any other pathological changes of the blood count.

In all cases. the blood count should be monitored until normalitation Other laboratory abnormalities: Therapy must be discontinued in any case of increased creatinine levels above the normal range (see section 4).

And this is mine together with the reference values.

Clearly viewable is the lower lympho and Leuko count. They are always floating around those values, but my doctor thinks it is acceptable. I know the PML victim in the Netherlands had a count lower than 0,2. So I definitely want to stay way above that.

But somehow the reference values are quite different from the other countries. I don't have a clue what they mean.

Hope you're all doing well!  Big Grin

Sorry it's been a while since my last post...its been a pretty busy few weeks but I'm looking for some Fumaderm advice....

I'be been continuing with my 720mg dose and saw my consultant on Tuesday (who said I can start to reduce my dose now woop!)! However I had new bloods taken at the same time and although my lymphocytes are stable at 0.6, my total WBC has dropped from 4.5 to 1.7! My consultant called me and sounded a bit concerned, asking if I'd been unwell (which I haven't).

I'm getting them repeated right now but am off to Japan on Monday for a week and a half and I'm panicking I won't get my results before then.

How low is 1.7? Do you think this is risky?

Thanks heaps
Kath

Quite a discussion concerning your question, Kath
I don't know what wbc means. So I cannot give you any advice on that.
Still it makes sense to go back into a lower number of pills. Certainly if it is working right now.
