Hi there, I do not have psoriasis however my mother has been struggling with it for more than a year. She's had it both on her scalp and multiple areas on her body. The plaque on her body has mostly cleared with the help of psoriasis creams she bought otc from Walgreens. However, her scalp psoriasis was only getting worse. She tried many methods both prescribed medication and home remedies.
About two months ago a friend recommended clotrimazole and betamethasone dipropionate cream. I think it's supposed to be used for fungus and it's not normally prescribed for scalp treatment however it worked! And it worked pretty quickly. My mom's head is almost entirely clear.
I'm writing here because I've seen my mom suffer from psoriasis..I watched her everyday cringing from the burning sensations she felt. It broke my heart to watch her go through this because I felt there was nothing I could do... thankfully she's doing a lot better because of this cream.

So I wanted to help anybody else who might still be dealing with scalp psoriasis. If you've tried everything and nothing seems to work, try this cream. Give it a few weeks, hopefully it'll work for you the way it worked for my mom. Nothing else seemed to work for her but this.

hi Makin_beats welcome  Welcome  to the club, thank you for sharing with us what works for your Mum, it's good that you are caring enough to want to pass this information on to a wider audience.

I have just had a read of the information put out by the makers and I see it is generally prescribed for fungal skin conditions but there is a mention of psoriasis in their write up... Unfortunately in the UK this is a prescription only drug (Lotrisone) and cannot be purchased over the counter.

It is interesting though and something to discuss with doctors if nothing else has worked... As you know many of us get desperate and the itching increases. But it may be available to many across the globe otc but not here in the UK .... We have many American members who undoubtedly will have a view on it.

Enjoy your time with us here and browse the boards as you may find other things that may be of help to your mother if this stops working ( which I hope it doesn't)
We have a very active off topic section which we hope you will enjoy as well as the health boards.
I wish your mum continued success with this treatment and will look forward to hearing how it continues to work  Thumb

Welcome! Glad to hear your mother is doing better. It's interesting that an anti-fungal treatment helped and interesting to hear of any treatment that has helped someone through dealing with psoriasis. Thanks for sharing!

I will add to use caution with corticosteroids if using over a large area for an extended amount of time. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for what works and used corticosteroids myself, but there can be numerous side effects that don't show up immediately with use like with some medications.
