Yes keep at it, sometimes treatments can upset our systems for a while but in the long run it is best to give it a good try. When I first went on to Stelara I didn't like the feeling of tiredness or flu like feelings, although they were short lived and minor I'm glad I stuck with it as I'm now 5 years in and still doing well.

I know it's not Fumaderm, but it's something to bear in mind.

I would say keep going, Fumaderm has shown good results.   Thumb

Yes definately not giving up, my feet are getting worse since stopping the acitretin, so getting painful to walk again and the itching at night! Confused

Plenty of fluid with them is quite important as it helps get them through your stomach into the intestines where they will do their work. I will post later a link to something to ease the side effects of cramps but I can't lay my hands on it at the moment Confused
Stay strong Thumb

Found it you may be able if the effects get bad to ask your doctor about this article

Quote:Clinical experience has shown that the gastrointestinal adverse effects of FAE therapy may be controlled with aluminium hydroxide, metoclopramide or ranitidine. There is also some evidence that concomitant pentoxifylline therapy may reduce the incidence and severity of gastrointestinal complaints and flushing in patients receiving FAE therapy. FAE dose reduction may also be used to manage symptoms; however, discontinuation should be considered in persistent cases. Gastrointestinal adverse events and flushing together lead to discontinuation of FAE therapy in approximately 7% of patients. Overall, the rate of discontinuation due to adverse events and/or noncompliance with treatment is 30-40%.

And by the way, Bill says.... "No bananas". Big Grin
At least not during the consumption of the pills.

The nausea I recognize. I still have it some times, but I learned to ignore it.

Deena has told me she uses something for the gastro side effects, you can see this thread introduce myself
I still have to go to the drugstore to find our, last time I was there they did not have it.

Keep on going Five

Ok Debbie are you taking the tablets with a meal and washing down with plenty of fluid.
It can be unpleasant but it should be manageable .., Caroline has suggested taking them with yoghurt. Keep coming back and talking
.the cramps will get less as time goes on but the nausea I never experienced myself but if you take them with meals and fluid should make a difference
The fact you are having side effects means that the drug is having an effect on your body which is a positive to take from the discomfort
Thanks for posting, please keep us informed, together as a group we should get you through the initial stages till you start seeing an improvement  Thumb

Thanks Jim, yes am taking with meals, but I think I need more fluid :
Welcome Debbie, so glad you found our group such a friendly and knowledgeable bunch of good people. They are all here to give us encouragement when we need it. Don't know what I would do without all my new friends. They really keep me on the straight and narrow. Before I found this group it seemed like I was alone with my disease and now I feel so much better. I learn something everyday from this group. Welcome and hope you are on the road to recovery. Wave

Why no bananas? Does it make the nausea worse?

Take my advice; I don't use it anyway.
