My name's Bav and i'm a alco... oh wait.. wrong forum my bad! Just kidding.

Thought it was about time i said hi properly, some of you have already helped me out a great deal in another thread, even if its been posts offering support its awesome, big big thank you! I dont feel so alone with this any more.

I've had P for about 20 years, wasn't noticeable at first only had red patches on my elbows and I moved from London to Bristol and it really started to flare up, I guess the change in air didn't like me to much, or coincidence dunno.. I do know though that when I've gone on holiday, mostly to the states its started to clear up.

Tried so many things, potions lotions creams, at one point i think i had more than some women i know. Even had a doc suggest i put this cream on my entire body and wrap myself in cling film, you know that stuff you wrap your sandwiches up in to keep them fresh.. thought that was a bit weird and maybe the doc was into something i really didn't want to ask about..

I've been dumped by a GF who in the beginning was like yeah its ok, no problem.. but in the end she pretty much dumped me because of it, just showed what a narrow minded person she was But since I've met two wonderful women who are well awesome, ones my ex fiance (we decided not to get married for well lets just say reasons other than P), and someone who I really hope wants to, both of whom said when i told them that they couldn''t care less, I explained to both of them what P was, what its like and still gave the same reply.

I refuse to let P or anything stop me from doing what I want to do, well within reason of course.. I've been a online DJ, Managed a radio station for a short time, I even do 3D animation using the same tools as Pixar, still learning but I'll get there, my avatar pic on here is one of mine and i'm dead pleased with it, it turned out really well. I'm also a big sci-fi nut, and by trade I'm a IT analyst.. yeah I've been one of those guys who answers the phone and says... "Hello I.T., have you tried turning it off and on again?" So if anyone needs any help with PC's feel free to send me a PM, I'll do my best to offer any advice I can.

I think that just about cover's it, oh yeah hi!!!!

Hi again Bav a nice introduction ... Fills some of the gaps. You will find mine on here somewhere
I'm looking through your introduction and was thinking do you think your psoriasis like so many peoples including mine is triggered by stress ?  Confused
You say you got bad when you moved from London ( somewhere you were at ease ) to Bristol. ( the great unknown ) hence stressful
You say it clears up when you go on vacation to America. Could that be because for that period you are stress free. ( just a thought ) it's more likely that than the air in Bristol being the culprit...

Creams potions and lotions are ok short term but the steroid ones should be used with caution as the side effects can be worse than psoriasis, get a referral tell them the creams don't work, they will put you onto pills at first, hopefully the drug I'm on but they have a protocol to follow where you have to fail a drug to progress to the next... But get yourself started you will not regret it.

I'm glad you have a couple of caring ladies in your harem you are soooo lucky, I'm glad they don't worry about your skin as the fact that they aren't bothered is one less thing for you to stress about... Let us know if a wedding is on the cards so I can save up for a hat  Big Grin 78

You seem to have a positive outlook on life and that should help you through this current period and you can always come here for a good rant...
When my computer goes down next expect a call and I will expect mates rates  Tongue
Finally it's great to meet another self confessed alcoho drinker welcome to my world cheers

Moving to Bristol was very stressful at the time, my grandad had just died (we was never very close, but he was still an awesome guy) and my gran was effectively alone here, I was in college learning basically how to be a TV cameraman, sound engineer and special FX and was basically told you're moving to Bristol or find a cardboard box the choice was mine, so yeah really stressful, but i dealt with it, wasn't happy but i got over it and have made things best i can. But i've always been of the opinion life's to short to hold a grudge, to stay mad at people for to long its not worth it.

As for the stress link? Most definitely the more stressed i get the worse it gets and vice versa, same with my rolling migraines. When I've been to the states in the past I've had stress sort of from American Immigration but that quickly passes, oh and that Iranian guy who sat next to me looking nervous, hey it was not long after 9/11 I think i was entitled to watch him like a hawk for the duration of the 8 hour flight. i think its a mixture of clean air, lots of sunshine and just being with great people and being able to live life with no cares in the world. I used to stay a lot with my ex fiance who lives in a small town in Illinois about 2 hours north of the Missouri border and her house was in the middle of no where, a drive way half a mile long with a huge lake stocked with fish for fishing, her parents are great to, even though her dad sounds like Mr Mackey from SouthPark.

I only normally drink one day a week, usually on a saturday unless its my birthday or xmas. But if you're buying I'll have a vodka and coke hehehe

Hello.

You sound like you have just joined the happiest place for Psoriasis. Everyone here has a great sence of humor.

This disease has not only effected my skin and bones and also I wrote a link a out the connection with hand palmoplanter psoriasis and Dupuytrens Contracture. There is also a whole section on meds that work and natural meds that work. Do a search and there's lots of advice from experience.

You didn't say what type od P. You have there are many? Have you tried any of the new meds?

Also all my life I have had P. It runs in the family. My  son did not get it and he was a DJ in the clubs in the States & he now does 3-D computer applications for the stage, plays, Cirque, concerts, cruises, corporate etc. A bit different than your applications. He uses Apple computers for graphics etc.

So I get the creativity in your job. It can be quite a challenge and very rewarding! Wave

Welcome again! What a nice positive outlook you have on life. Smile

You'll find quite a few alcoh social drinkers here. But you'll find lots of friendly people who are supportive too.

Married to my own IT guy (Network Engineer) who has trained me well.... at least well enough to restart the computer before I bug him! Big Grin

Hello again Bav,

Nice to read a bit more of you.
Interesting job you have had, the DJ things, radio station and the creative work with pixar and being an IT guy. Always handy to have around. Probably I myself will not have to use your knowledge. All of my equipment is from a company that uses an apple in it's logo. Haven't had hardly any problems with it. It tends to work always.

But you might help the poor souls that occasionally struggle with putting pictures of flickr on the board. That seems to be one stone too far for the most. Wink  Sorry guys, just joking you know me Wink

I am not so into alco .. eh, I mean, I like a glass of dry white, but normally keep that to only one, that already makes me partying enough, with more I would not know anymore what I was doing.   Big Grin

Have a nice time on the forum. All nice people and very international.

Cheers,
Caroline

Hello again Bav, good official intro.  Thumb

The cling film thing can help so don't worry your Doc isn't a perv, it works well on the scalp. Massage Coconut oil in wrap in cling film leave for a few hours or overnight and wash out with warm water.

Re getting dumped by your girl friend, you're better off without her mate. Those sort of people are not worth knowing, one should never judge others by an illness as they could be next.

I like the Tardis by the way, just wondered as you're into that and i.t could you get one of those new printer jobbys and make a real one? If so can I come with you  Smile

Thank you for the offer of help with computers I will keep it mind.

Fred.

Sure Fred, I'll make a Tardis and we'll go visit places, as long as you dont mind a quick stop off in Texas to pick up a friend. You've just given me an idea for a 3D project though, thanks for that! lol
