Hi everyone!   I got my first 2 injections yesterday morning!  I am using the pen and it hardly hurt at all!   Am excited and scared at the same time, of course.   No real side effects yet....did have to run to the potty one time unexpected.  lololo    This is a side effect that I have heard about.  I felt achy last night but that has also subsided.   My health insurance that I have through my company has EXCLUDED this drug.  So I have started the 5 week start up program and then I believe I was told I can then get an additional six months of medication.  What happens beyond that is unknown.   That is what is so scary too!  I am taking pictures and will post them as I get further into my treatment.  Thanks for your support and any additional input!   Smile

Thank you for starting this thread.

I have also heard diarrhoea can be a side effect and it is marked as a common problem, but I'm not sure how bad it gets. Let's hope it's not an on going thing, good luck I look forward to your updates.

Great news Angel . I can understand your emotions of excitement and both scared at the same time. It's a step into the unknown for you,
Great as well that the side effects so far are minimal, let's hope it stays that way.
I would guess after the funding runs out for the drug, the manufacturer will fight your corner as Matari has said
Cross that bridge as and when you come to it
Good luck
Jim

Well, tomorrow, July 16th will be my SECOND week of Cosentyx injections.   My first week went well.   I am noticing a lot less flaking of my plaque psoriasis already and some spots definitely are not as red and inflamed.    Clap  I have felt a little achy from time to time this entire week.  I am not sick at all.  So, I am assuming some type of side effect.   But again, so far so good!!   Thumb

Good stuff Angel, I would imagine the achy feeling is a side effect, this can happen with the bio's but your body will get used to it.

Do you mind if I ask if the toilet problem has gone, or is it still a problem?

Hey Fred!!  Toilet problem was literally a one time thing about 8 hours after I took the first injections!!  Oh, my private health insurance company has sent TWO denial letters to my doctor saying they will continue excluding Cosentyx.  I  wrote a very long APPEAL letter to them yesterday as they said that I could.  Hmm, let's see what happens with that.....

Thank you Angel that's reassuring.

Re the insurance, sorry can't help as I don't understand your system. But I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Looks very good Angel.
Also for me it is assuring that there is more and more medication that is really doing a good job.
Maybe you could also suggest to your insurance that by having Cosentyx your total health will increase and you will not make any further costs for eliminating the effects of psoriasis, which in the longer run could mean very high and inevitable costs for the insurance.

I wish you a very good continuation with Cosentyx.

Thank you Caroline!   Yes, I wrote a very long appeal letter detailing my day to day struggle with this disease, how it affects both my personal life and work life, etc.  A very long one page letter!!  I am praying they read it....and it doesn't go FILE 13 right away.   I was told by my rep at Cosentyx again, I will get the 5 week starter kit and then 6 additional months.  Then after that...it's a gray area of course.   They will have to try to keep reviewing with my insurance company.
