Hi everybody I'm new to the club I look forward to sharing my exsperince with you. I kinda worried right now.. I took my first humira shot for psoriasis a week ago and I noticed some clearing the first couple of days. But Two nights ago I was itching the and didn't really think much of it.when I awoke the next morning my chest and back were covered in a horrible rash! I took benidryl and went to work. I felt my face start to swell later that day and it was hot feeling. I checked myself when I got home and the rash had spread down to my legs and up my neck to my face. I went to the ER at 130am and they made me set around for hours and pushed me out the door and was told to take benidryl. I went to a urgent care facility and they prescribed me pretnizone which I started taking right away. I'm scared about this cause I read some blogs and some people are having the same issues and they can't make it go away. I was better off before humira and I'm not using it anymore. Has anyone exsperinced this and if so did it go away?

Hi Bobby and  Welcome  glad you have found us, and hope you get some good advice soon. I have not been on Humira but I have seen that problem mentioned before and it is listed as a  side effect see here  Humira (adalimumab) I would contact your dermatologist and get advice from him.
There is a web address on the link I have given you where you can contact Humira for advice . I can't believe emergency room sent you away
I hope you get some good advice soon

Hopefully by then it will have subsided after getting prednisone. Which is commonly used to counteract allergic reactions I believe......it's a corticosteroid just be aware if you feel unwell on it as Humira suppresses your immune system and so does prednisone,
I found this on drugs dot com
Quote:
Using adalimumab together with predniSONE may increase the risk of serious infections. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Your doctor may already be aware of the risks, but has determined that this is the best course of treatment for you and has taken appropriate precautions and is monitoring you closely for any potential complications. Contact your doctor immediately if you develop signs and symptoms of infection such as fever, chills, diarrhea, sore throat, muscle aches, shortness of breath, blood in phlegm, weight loss, red or inflamed skin, body sores, and pain or burning during urination. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Hope that is helpful

Welcome Bobby!

I don't have any experience with Humira, but that definitely is something to talk to your doctor about! Thankfully there are a lot of different treatments available. Let us know what the doc says and again, Welcome!!

Hello Bobby,

Welcome to the club. I am also not on Humira, but I see that Jim has given you some straightforward answers with link.
Does seem to me that Humira is not the right medication for you and you and your derm need to look for different one.

Hello Bobby  Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

I see you have already been given some good information, so I will cut to the chase.

It sounds to me that you are having a reaction to Humira. What you are describing is what happened to me I thought it would go away but within a couple of days I looked like a lobster my skin had gone cold even though I felt hot, small pustules started appearing. My wife phoned my dermatologist and they told me to come in immediately. Apperently it ended up that my body was shutting down and it took a week of staying hospital having regular baths creams and pills to get it back on track.

Don't put it off Bobby and don't be fobbed off by A&E stop taking the prednisone and get attention NOW.

I'm sorry if I sound a bit over the top, but as I've been through it believe me it gets frightening.

Humira say on their own website:

"Call your doctor or get medical care right away if you develop any of the above symptoms."

You are describing some of the the symptoms they say you should be looking out for.

Hopefully I'm wrong, but don't wait to find out.

Regards.

Fred.

Oh and please do report back as you input could be valuable.

Don't let it get you down, like I said it happened to me but there are other treatments you can try. It may be worth asking about Stelara as it works in a different way and I have been fine on it for over 5 years, in fact it's the best thing that ever happened to me as it gave me back my life.

Good luck.
