Hi I am Michael , I was diagnosed with plaque psoriasis 3 years ago by an Nhs Dermatologist, I have 40% body coverage and i am using Hydromol Ointment, Dovonex and Dovobet and Dermol Wash creame.

I am Continuing with this treatment but I am not seeing a vast Improvement in my skin !!

I am Interested in others members views on there treatment plans and there success.

Hello Michael  Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

You will find a good mix of people using various treatments, so just dive on in you will find us a friendly bunch.

As for Diet. I'm not a fan of it myself mostly because I think it is far to difficult to keep to 100%. But you could try here: Natural Treatments For Psoriasis

Regards.

Hi again Mike I have a bit more time now so can wish you a proper welcome Welcome to the club.

We are very lucky to have this platform to discuss our disease
Fred has been good enough to set this site up and fund it single handed, he tells us he will never ask or accept help with the funding, we have very few rules here most of them are common sense and a few are to keep the site safe from spammers, trolls and Internet bullying.....which he works at tirelessly
He has put together a tremendous library about the disease and the treatments available, along with the latest news about future treatments and the outcome of trials...which is supplemented by members own experiences which they are happy to share, and discuss together

You will find we have an active off topic section which you will be made to feel welcome if you choose to join in any of the threads there or even if you just want a chat in the chatting thread [Group Specific]

Onto what I would do if I were in your shoes .....

I would speak to the dermatologist that you are under and tell him that the creams are ineffective and you have read that they are meant for short term treatment, he should offer possibly UV treatment which can be effective, I used to have it for many years with great effect, the effects if successful can vary, I used to arrange to have mine in the spring, by the end of the treatment I could keep clear with the sun in the summer,

The other option may be methotrexateMethotrexate or acetretin Acitretin which will both probably work and clear your skin, if the side effects aren't to severe for you

I wish you good luck and hope you will enjoy being a member of the club

Hi Mike welcome to the forum , you will find that we are all very experienced in what it's like to have P and PsA so any answers that you get will be from people who know what it's like not health workers who only think they know.
I am not a fan of diets as I don't think they work that well but saying that there are people who don't get on with certain foods so under those circumstances there is a reason to go down that route.
If you are 40% covered I am surprised that your derm has not suggested using other treatments other than lotions and potions ,have you had any light treatment as that can work quite well. I had that when after about 3 years with P and it worked quite well though not for a long term solution for me.
I have used most of the things you are using and where as they kept it down to a degree they really were a very time consuming and meant only for a short term answer. I think that you need to have a good look around the forum then ask a few questions so the next time you see your derm you can see if they can improve your treatment with the next level .

Take care and welcome again to the forum , the inmates are all friendly and will help as much as they can.

Welcome Michael!

I actually do think diet can help, at least somewhat as I think what we put into our bodies affects our overall health. But... with that said, I also think we are all quite different and some people tolerate and have better results with different foods. As for myself, I am not really disciplined enough to try to keep up with everything I eat and how it effects each medical problem I encounter so I strive to eat healthy for overall general health. I have read that some have been able to target certain foods that they think can trigger a flare, but it's not something I have noticed with me.

I think if creams and ointments aren't working (which isn't uncommon, it's just usually the first thing they try) then you should get back to your dermatologist and tell them so. There are many treatments out there that do help so I think you should try to find the one that works for you. There is a lot of information here to be found on the various treatments and members more than willing to share their experience. It's good to know what is available so when you are discussing your options with your doctor, you are more informed. Sometimes doctors don't give you much of a choice, but if you want to try one over the other, it's possible that they will listen.

Good luck and looking forward to hearing your progress!
