Am I misunderstanding ? She asked if you wanted to talk Bios, but suggested Otezla and DMF?

So you are saying you didn't want the Bio's is what I'm getting from your post.

If you want more info about Otezla or DMF this thread can help: Oral Treatments For Psoriasis

Looks as if your diet seems to help. That is a good signal.
I wonder what the results will be in the search for Coelic disease.
Logically seen i would not be surprised if you have that and that it doesn’t express in your intestines but on your skin.
There is a strong link between your intestine and your skin, they are more or less the same,

I'll watch this space.... Smile

Hi Hanna if you do decide to go for the DMF option, all I can tell you is it has given me 6 great years without a flare up .....I'm not saying it will work fast or that it will be without side effects when you start ....but if you can get your head round those facts it's a great drug

But if you can get a bio that's possibly less hassle ......but if I were given the choice again I would still choose DMF as you are still young I would say exhaust all other avenues first and save the bios for later in life

The side effects, in casu the toxity, may even be less if you go for Skilarence instead of Fumaderm. Just a thought.

I agree that's why I didn't mention Fumaderm ...hopefully Skilarence will be offered

Morning Hanna,

Yes, it is quite new.
Has just been accepted and registered for the European market. I thought they would start to deliver in the UK first, per 1st of January. I have seen the price coming around here on the forum. See the thread on Skilarence. Yes, I just found my post on it RE: [split] Skilarence

It is new in the sense that it is a competitor of Fumaderm, it has only one ingredient DMF. In that sense it is an old drug, it doesn’t differ from drugs that are 20 years and longer available, but are not registered. It is a formal thing.

Hi Hanna,

NICE finished a review a few months back and gave Skilarence the nod for the NHS. I wrote and told them what a load of taxpayer money they were wasting but they had little interest in my comment. I have been on DMF for five years with an excellent and sustained result.

Cheers

Thank you for clarifying Hanna. I agree it's a good idea to try DMF first, the Bio's are great if you have it real bad and want it x quickly. But no harm in keeping them on the back burner for the future.

Yes Skilarence is still new as Caroline and Bill said. So it may be getting slowly rolled out across the UK. My thinking is if your local NHS is offering Fumaderm they will not have Skilarence yet, if they don't have Fumaderm then they will have it. I also think eventually they will all switch over to Skilarence, but that could change after Brexit!
