Hello! Wave

I’m new here. I’m not sure if I’m doing any of this right. Bare with me!

I don’t really have a history with psoriasis and the story of how I got here started yesterday when I was told by an Advanced Nurse Practitioner that the dandruff I have and the weird blotches I thought was ringworm and had been covering in anti-fungal cream are, in fact, psoriasis. (Woo! Rolleyes ) I deduced it was inverse psoriasis and scalp psoriasis.

I was prescribed Psoriderm cream, bath lotion and shampoo.
Had my first Psoriderm Pamper earlier today. (I was absolutely in the bath more than the recommended five minutes. Which is probably why it was starting to sting a little bit. Applying the cream to some parts stung too. Is this normal? Or the kind of not normal that people generally ignore and just carry on with?)
I smell. The house smells. My hair smellllllllllllllllllllls.
I have a date next week, how do I make it going away? Haha.
Worse still, I work for a large postal delivery service, let’s call it Moyal Rail. If it starts to rain, is the smell going to be even stronger?! Am I going to be the stinky postie?!

I started to google and came across this forum. I already can’t find the post I originally saw about Psoriderm. Ha. I’ll go through the history once I’ve managed to navigate the forum a bit better.

I have rambled far too much.

Hello! Thanks for letting me join. I will endeavour to scour the forum for advice on being less smelly and hopefully how to be more comfortable in and with my own body.

TL;DR - Hi, I’m new.

Hello mynoduesp  Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

Don't worry about doing things right, we are easy going and will soon put things right for you if you get stuck.

There is a thread about Psoriderm on the forum Psoriderm bath additive but it's not been updated for a long time. But don't let it stop you starting a new thread about in in Prescribed Treatments For Psoriasis as we have more members now.

As for making it go away (I take it you mean the smell, not your date) sorry I can't help with that myself. Someone else may know, but again don't hesitate to start more threads if you wish. It's all about questions and answeres, and we my point you to other threads, but we have no limit and non one will ever bring you down for asking a question that may already be answered.

If you nee any help settling in our Forum helpers can help, find them here Staff or just shout out and one of a our regular members will always help.

If you venture into the [Group Specific] we won't complain about the smell. We have a resident stinky bear so don't worry.

Regards.

Fred.

Hi mynoduesp and welcome to the club.
I just checked as it sounded familiar and I didn't give it any chance
It just smelled  too much. I would have had to have had 6 months off to get my psoriasis  under control but don't let that put you off. Most lotions and creams can sting on application.
Unfortunately creams from your GP will only have a limited and short term effect. Get yourself referred to Dermatologist. They have a much bigger and better arsenal. Sorry I can't be more help at the moment, it's the interval  Big Grin.

I'm sure more will roll up with their six penny worth

Yes, you should indeed, it is a very good suggestion of John, it will save you from a lot of frustration on creams that finally will not work.

This is old, but still applies to the UK: NICE issues new guidance for GPs treating psoriasis

Yes, I’m quite new to psoriasis but I have a family friend who has psoriasis too so I’m not completely in the dark, which is quite nice. I’ve had what I thought was dandruff for about 6 years now. I’m hoping knowing exactly what’s going on will help to finally get it under control!
Yes, I’m relatively young. Late 20’s. Supposedly old enough to know better, does it anyway cliché. alien
This has been a lovely welcome. Thank you.

Clap yess.... I sensed it... finally someone younger than me, although only a few years Big Grin
You have the right view, getting it under control is the way to go.
But that may be a difficult road to go, as there is still no real diagnose - recipe - controlled approach as everyone is different and has a different Psoriasis, it is all trying and testing up to now, but we can advise and help, and even under us you will experience some discussion.

There is light on the horizon, but that may take a number of years. Recently a European program has started called BIOMAP. It aims at finding all the markers there for Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis. They will combine the information of 50.000 patients.
The purpose is to define all types of disease with all types of patients (genotypes) and fit that with the treatments that work for each combination.
The ultimate goal is to measure type of Psoriasis/person during diagnose and have the mapped data predict the immediate correct treatment, thus short circuiting all the fuss with just trying.
