Hi,

I've visited here several times, but never posted.  It helps tremendously to have a forum like this not only for information but for emotional support as well - knowing others are experiencing the same problem and not giving up.  I have flare ups on the soles of my feet and occasionally on my hands. The disease started 15 years ago, and it was after I took a course of antibiotics for an infection on my foot. I haven't tried any of the biologics.  The topicals help, but doesn't always give quick relief.  I am convinced that foods trigger the flare ups.  The only way I get significant relief is to reset my body by fasting on making my own carrot/apple juice, sweet potatoes and brown rice diet.  I was told proteins, especially animal proteins if avoided could help.

Hello Shaidaw  Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

I was going to point you to Alan's thread that may be of interest, but I notice you have already found it. RE: How I Cured My Psoriasis By Diet

I'm pleased to hear you find Psoriasis Club supportive and full of useful information, we work very hard to keep the place friendly and free from spammers and scammers.

Well done for posting an introduction, have a good look around and dive on in.

Regards.

Fred.

Hi Shaidaw and a warm welcome to the Club  Wave.

This is the best place to be to get help with managing this wretched disease. I know a few people over the years have advocated diet to alleviate the symptoms and some do manage well using diet alone. I dont have that level of commitment though and to be honest I couldn't  really put my finger on anything in particular that would cause a trigger. My disease was a slow unremitting development.  Topical did nothing. UV helped but came back as soon as the treatments stopped and I have failed on Methotrexate,  Acitretin an Cyclosporine.  I am a month into Otezla and up to now (sshhhh, dont tell anyone) it looks like it might actually be working.

Enjoy your time on here and dont forget to sign up for the newsletter or while a few idle moments away in the off topic section. You will always be welcome.

Hi Shaidaw and a warm  Welcome  to the club and a big thank you for posting . I agree that this forum is a great place to learn about the disease and to talk about treatments, I also find it reassuring to know there are others like me having the daily struggle with the disease and it's not just me. I have mine controlled with tablets that have kept me clear for over 7 years

You are possibly right that diet can be a trigger but I love food too much and lack willpower I see fred mentioned Alan's thread about controlling it with diet ...there is a lot of information in the natural treatments board Natural Treatments For Psoriasis

John also mentioned signing up for the monthly newsletter which you can do if you wish by clicking here Groups and then click on join newsletter group  Thumb

Hi Shaldaw,

Welcome and thanks for your introduction.
Seems to me that you have a bacteria induced psoriasis. With which i mean that the infection that you had is the probable cause of the Psoriasis. Somehow it triggers something which sets your immune system to activate the psoriasis.

Cheers,
Caroline

Hi Shaidaw,

I think diet has a large influence on our bodies and agree that it can help. I also am glad that there continues to be research and new treatments available. The more information there is regarding diet and meds, the more options we all have to pursue in finding what works best for us. I'd love to try to figure out if improving my diet could help. I find if difficult to figure out what to try however and sadly my will power is very lacking.

Glad you're posting and hope to hear more from you. Smile

Hi Shaidaw, welcome to the best range of information on psoriasis that you will find and the best people that you will also find.
Have you actually had a diagnosis of psoriasis by a dermatologist because irrespective of how you are treating it you really should know exactly where you are starting from.
It's great to welcome another new member so anything that you want to know just ask away.
