after failing on kyntheium. i was told by dr to come off it.and i would be getting a telephone consultation.
i got my consultation over the phone. only thing i knew nothing about it. as i got my appointment letter the day after the fone call. so obviously missed it. at this point my psoriasis and arthritis kicked in big time.. in absolute agony i ring the dermatology department. asking for another appointment. i got my fone consultation.. or rather i didnt as they rang the wrong number!! so i ring again.. and give them my number again. ok they said we will ring you. but it will be in 6 days time as the drs are busy. all the while im unable to walk at this point due to arthritis. my right foot swelled. cracked and split. so i got my fone consultation.. or rather i didnt cos guess what.. they rang wrong number again. so i ring back. fuming they agree to another consultation, and yippee they actually foned right number, so after speaking to the dr she said i should go back on cosentyx. ok i said, dr said it should be with you in 10 days.. great i said. waited 3 weeks n nothing. rang dermatology. and,, she forgot to process the prescription.. i havn slept in a month due to sever pain and sore skin. i cant walk. cant sit or lay down due to pain,,, sorry for the rant but needed to get it off my chest. and im tempted to seek legal advice. you wouldnt leave a dog in this much pain

My word Martin that's disgusting that they have messed you about so much, and to be honest I think the dermatologist should have seen you your skin is so bad and your arthritis
Im glad you came and had a rant here (I'll ask Fred to move it to the prescribed treatment area where it is more likely to be seen )

I hope you have got the cosentyx by now and have started injecting it

Good luck and I think you have a case for negligence from the way I read it

That's absolutely disgusting Martin but I am not surprised as the NHS is getting worse if that's possible. Which dermotogy department do you use, is it the local hospital.
I hope that you are sorted out now but I would look towards making a complaint to the local trust.

OMG!!!

Your healthcare system is really bad!

Hope it starts to clear up soon and that they also prescribed something for the pain.

Hello Martin, you are right it is "Negligence" and you should not have been allowed to get in that condition.

My recommendation would be either.

#1 Contact the head of your dermatology department or the chief executive of the hospital and demand that you are seen by a dermatologist immediately.

#2 Get an appointment with your family doctor and tell him/her that you are not being treated properly under the NHS guidelines.  You can find the guidelines here:

NICE Quality Standards for Psoriasis

NICE issues new guidance for GPs treating psoriasis

#3 Though we are in difficult times, you could go to A&E and tell them that you are worried your body is shutting down. Looking at the condition you are in, I think you should be seen as soon as possible, and don't forget that skin is our largest organ and if shuts down you are in big trouble.

Don't put up with it any longer Martin, you must get on top of it as soon as possible.

good post good post Fred I totally agree with your response

Telephone consultations are good if like me it's just to say things are ticking along nicely thanks .
But when there's a flare or change of treatment it's imperative for the dermatologist to see your skin and assess the severity. It seems this has been lacking despite Matins desperate pleas for help.

I think Martin's skin is in such bad condition due to the negligence of his dermatology department and it might be a good idea to present himself to A&E. Department for urgent attention

Good luck Martin and shame on the department that has let you down so badly

That's terrible Martin have they seen photos of your skin ...they should be ashamed letting a patient get into such bad health, when it's totally treatable Angry

I used to live in Bramley nr Wickersley and the local hospital in Rotherham used to have an especially good dermotogy department, it's ten years ago now so it may not be the same. It may be worth having a word with your GP and see if you can transfer to another hospital.
