Hi Wintrman,

Do you absolutely need to wait for his or her office to call?  Did you try calling?

I would be hounding them....especially knowing that a referral was sent twice!  Now three times!!!

I had to do that for a rheumatologist appointment a few years ago and at least they were able to tell me where they were at with the referrals.

It seems to be moving in the right direction though and she is lnow istening.....following interruptions....she's learning!!!!   Clap

Okay, at least you have her convinced that a next step has to be made.

Indeed good strategy that KatT suggests. I do doubt that the one that does not react, now suddenly will react, and if… what kind of person this is. I just mean, bluntly no reaction on two referrals doesn’t make me feel confident.

I have kinda resigned myself to the fact I will likely be making the trek to Winnipeg. I am not expecting miracles here but here's to hoping that I am wrong. I am used to that. I am married after all. LOL

I will be calling this doctor's office today. You can be sure about that. This way I can get my GP to move on a new referral if and when the time comes. I am not just gonna lay back and let this happen in its own time. The system here is already pokey slow with covid and all.

Thanks for the advice!

Wintrman

I agree. Why should this be any different? I am just thinking that because the referral is coming from his intern, then perhaps we will get a little more action here. I hope that is what gets this guy to move on this issue.

While thinking about this intern, I kinda have mixed feelings about her. I mean, I have had such amazing reactions with female health care workers and doctors in particular. I feel bad that we had to knock heads over this and maybe because I am older, I might have bullied her? She seems like such a nice young lady. That's it for now.

Cheers,

Wintrman

You are not going in there as a calm person discussing what colour to paint your lounge, this is an appointment to get help with something that is hugely affecting you and so yes, an appointment with a derm can be very emotionally charged. They have probably encountered other patients who are in this state as well as those who are on a stable treatment and feel more settled about the whole thing.
So I’m sure you can start afresh with her the next appointment.
Funny enough I had a bad experience with mine the first time we met. I didn’t see them again for a while, then my normal derm retired and I got them again. We get along just fine now.

Hi Everyone!

Well, I have been referred, for what it's worth. I called the dermatologists office to find out if they have received the referral. They said they did, but the doctor has to review my medical record and they'll get back to me with an appointment date. 4 days later, and I am still waiting.  I am gonna be the biggest pain in the ass to those receptionists by calling in every other day from here on out. I figure 2 weeks or so is a fair period of time to get the referral I need. If I don't get an appointment date soon, I will ask my GP to refer me to a derm in Winnipeg. Hopefully, I will get seen by a derm soon, cuz I am just so past done with the flakes, itching, bleeding and embarrassment.

For those that have used coconut oil: How do you put it on? In a liquid state or in the solid state?

Cheers,

Wintrman

Both, it will melt on body contact.

Some prefer to have it in liquid form and some prefer it solid, I prefer using it as a solid lump but in the summer it is liquid and I tend to end up with all over the place. Rolleyes

If you do want to use it as a liquid it's best to only melt the amount you need, I think it melts at around 25c so you don't need to boil it up.

I used it as a liquid this morning. I microwaved it for 15 seconds and I was ok with it. I melted 10 grams of it. It was about 4 in the morning that I used it as that is the time I get up to go to work. I will use it but I am not a fan of the smell of it.

Just be warned it’s not for everyone, I find coconut oil makes my skin a lot itchier not soothing at all.. but fingers crossed you will find it helpful.

If not, then you could try this - when I was desperate for sleep and itching through the night, I did find something that helped me but it’s greasy and messy so really only for bedtime - sudocrem, the sort that comes in a pot, or a generic product may be available - and I believe it was helpful in calming the itch because of the high zinc content (think aftersun lotion).

I find coconut oil is soothing, not sure it helped for very long but just applying it felt better. I preferred it warm and more liquid form.

Hope it helps you out some Wintrman!
