Well, I have to tell ya'll that stress has cause a flare up for me. I don't know if it's normal but it's happening to me. I haven't eaten anything the last few days any different, so all I can clock it up to is stress.

Stressors include:

1. Burying my Mom on Saturday.

2. Dealing with incommunicative doctors.

3. Dealing with diabetes.

4. Stressing over how diabetes effects psoriasis and vice versa.

5. Dealing with pinched nerve.

6. Dealing with pinched nerve pain and trying to take care of my wife at the same time.

7. Being put into the hospital because my PTSD has gone nutso.

8. Sorting out meds/new meds and meds interactions because on of the new meds I am on had a mild interaction.

9. DEALING WITH THIS DAMN ITCH!

So as you can see I have alot of stressors and over the past week my psoriasis has been getting worse. Only thing that's changed is my diet in small ways.

What are your thoughts guys?

sincerely,

Wintrman

Sorry to hear about the loss of your Mother Wintrman.

Yep stress is well known to cause a psoriasis flare up, and not something we can easily treat. But you will find once you get started on a good treatment it gets easier to manage it.

Any one from that list could trigger a flair up.

I am not sure if it would help you in any way but have you considered something like meditation or yoga to pull your stress levels down?

Yes, stress causes a change in the chemistry of your body and therefore can cause psoriasis because of this instability..

I have earlier mentioned EMDR for fighting you PTSD. Did you do some research on it? Is it practised over there with you?
Might be a worthy try. And, no gain no pain, it is harmless.

And for the itch, did you try coconut oil? And didn’t this work?

Caroline...EMDR isn't available.locally as I live in a smaller centre. With my pinched nerve yoga isn't an option. Meditation is being used right now with limited success. Shock therapy, as in putting my head into an ice cold environment, is helping.

Why can't a gp just give an interim treatment? Other than dovobet or duobrii?

Simple answer is that they are not allowed to do so, you need a dermatologist to prescribe stronger treatments. A GP is just a general practitioner like it says in the name, they can only prescribe up to a certain limit before it needs a specialist in the field.

A dermatologist can prescribe much more than a GP because they understand how the treatments work, a GP on the other hand is there to give you the basics.

My condolences for the loss of your mother Wintrman.

You have a lot going on!

At the hospital, they usually have a dermatologist and a rheumatologist.  Can your GP get you an emergency appointment with them?  That's what my GP did for me as I need to consult a new rheumatologist.....maybe worth a try!

Thanks for the condolences. I will give it a try and see if my GP can push things along a little faster. Seeing as there is only one derm in the area my choices are rather limited. He has referred me to a derm in Winnipeg in hopes of getting things moving along faster. I feel that my desperation to see a derm faster is because psoriasis has been eating at my organs and my skin for such a long time already, untreated/mistreated. With all that has happened of late, I am super sensitive about outcomes.

Cheers,

Wintrman

Wow. Just Wow. Had an appointment with my endocrinologist yesterday. (Diabetes doctor) She told me my GP should have been treating me for diabetes 2 years ago. RAGE. RAGE . RAGE.  I think it is time for a new GP. Wish me luck on my search. Docs taking on patients are as common as hens teeth. But at this rate a walk in doctor might be a better option.
