Well, it took a major health scare to motivate me. That and the help of a diabetic med I take called Ozempic. It positively kills your appetite, so I have to force myself to eat. So I don't deserve too much credit on the motivation part.

Have a great day!

Great job!  I'm sure it wasn't easy!!!
Hi KatT,

Oddly enough, losing the weight was easy. After I kicked the gluten habit and getting a huge helping hand from Ozempic ( a diabetic drug), I have now lost 30 lbs. You see, Ozempic KILLS your appetite. Drink 8 0z. of water and you feel like you have just eaten a 12 oz. steak and a baked potato. So no problem. Trouble is I have to force myself to eat so my blood sugars don't bottom out. It's a cross I am willing to bear however.

Cheers!

Wintrman

Ohhhh!  I will keep that in mind  Smile  my last blood sugar tests weren't so good and I may end up having to take medication for diabetes  Confused

Start by kicking that gluten out of your life. It's amazing how it will effect your psoriasis and it will help your A1C too. So give it a shot! And yes, Ozempic is a good med. See, Manitoba doesn't cover the cost for insulin, but does cover the cost of Ozempic. I am also taking Metformin. I hope you can turn things around, KatT! I hope you aren't diagnosed with diabetes. It isn't the end of the line though, if you do. I can and will support you, if and when you are diagnosed with diabetes. Although, I suspect that I will have to do that through PM's as this is a Psa site.

Thanks Wintrman  Kiss  I have been kind of avoiding my GP as I don't want to be put on metformin due to my lupus and liver being impacted due to medication.  I will send you a PM if I get diagnosed (last test was above 7)

Thanks Fred for suggesting off topic.  There are probably other members that are dealing with diabetes also.  I still have to start a thread about psoriasis, PSA and lupus  Wink

Good Morning, People!

So I am set. I have had my blood taken for A1C. I have now lost 32 lbs.. My blood sugars are solid and I am set to see my doc on Thursday. I have to say, the arthritis in my upper spine at T4 and T5, seems worse. More pain. The pinched nerve I have in L4 is acting up. My upper thighs go numb and suddenly my muscles spasm and I lose total strength in my legs; mostly in my left leg (not to say my right doesn't give my problems.

Anyways, I am doing my best to enjoy life. My wife and I bought the camper trailer we have always dreamed about as part of our retirement goals. It is awesome!!  Anyways, I shall let you all know what happens with my doc's appointment.

The doctor I see for my liver actually increased my Metformin. I guess it can be beneficial to some liver disease.

It's great that your blood sugars are stable. Sorry about the increased pain but you are right to live life to the fullest so enjoy that new camper!
