Hello everyone.  My name is Mike.  I have been recently diagnosed with psoriasis and psoriasis arthritis.  Although I would say I have had a for a lot longer.  Until recently the outbreaks and joint pain I have had where minor.  When I go see the doctor about them, it was blamed on my smoking, bad diet, poor hygiene and so on.

It was only in the last year when the psoriasis started affecting my skin and joints really bad.  I went from a small patch on my elbow to having psoriasis on my face, hands, feet, chest and nails.  The pain in my knees and lower back was enough to keep me from sleeping.  After a few months of taking tests I finally got my diagnosis of psoriasis.

The tropical creams I am applying to my skin seem to keep the psoriasis in check or in some areas put it in remission.  The strong anti-inflammatory drugs I am taking keep the joint pain down so I can sleep. I would tell you the names of the drugs I am using, but they are not here at the computer and I am too lazy to get up and get them Tongue LOL

But I am happy to have the diagnosis of psoriasis and doing something that helps out.  I am also happy to be here talking with people who are in a similar condition to me and understand what it is like.  I look forward to interacting and getting to know you better.

I hope this introduction is good enough.  Feels like I said too much.  Maybe I didn't say enough!!!  Maybe I should redo the introduction!!!  I hate introductions, everyone seeing me for the first time.  What will they think of me?  I hope I came across in a good way.  They say first impressions are everything.  Definitely should do the introduction again.

Oh by the way I have a tendency to overthink things Tongue LOL  Well I am just going to stop that right now and click on that "Post Thread" button before I redo this introduction yet again!!!!

Hello Mike  Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

You will find a wealth of information here so have a good look around and ask as many questions as you like, none of us are professionals but we have a wide range of people using different treatments.

If you want to get to know some of our members better I can recommend the [Group Specific] board, you will find a very friendly bunch so just dive on in.

Nothing wrong with your intro and no one will judge you here.  Smile

Regards.

Fred.

Hi Mike and welcome  Welcome to the club. A great intro by the way
Here you are among friends that are in the same boat as you and all happy to share their experience with tips on what helps them, and although there aren't any medical professionals here we have a wealth of experience of psoriasis
So enjoy yourself and jump in anywhere here where you will be made welcome . Ask questions if you have any and we will do our best to answer them
I'm glad the creams are clearing you and hope you will read more on here about other treatments that can treat you systemically. If the creams fail as they are designed for short term use ...see here Prescribed Treatments For Psoriasis

Hi Mike and a very warm welcome to our club.
Absolutely nothing wrong with your intro, we have all been there and yes it can be difficult to open up,  but be rest assured we all know what the script is and no one will ever judge you on here. It's not what we are about.
Non of us are medically trained but have grown to cope with this damned disease and can speak from experience.
What I would strongly recommend if you dont have one is to get a referral to a Dermatologist,  GP's in most countries dont have the same call on treatments and you are more likely to get it under control better  with a Dermy in tow. I would also be very cautious about using steroid creams such as Enstilar for too long as they can cause damaging thinning of the skin.
If we can be any help, just ask - there is no such thing as a dumb question. We will do our best to help where we can.

Thank you Caroline for the inviting welcome Smile  I am just confused here.  I though the second post was the second first post.   Tongue  Sometimes I find it so confusing like is it the hundredth post, a decade of decade posts or four quarter posts?  I guess it doesn't matter, it is all the same no matter which way you slice it up!  I hope you have a wonderful day!!!

Hi JohnB!!!!  Thank you for the very warm welcome to the club!!!  I really appreciate it!!!

That is something I am going to pursue in the new year is a referral to a Dermatologist.  Thank you for the suggestion!  Also thank for the warning about Enstilar.

I hope you have a great day JohnB!!!!
