And I would say take the Light treatment.  Big Grin

It had worked for you in the past and your dermatologist will monitor it. So why not give it another try and hold Fumaderm as a second choice.

My opinion would be for anyone to hold off on any new treatment if they can cope with what they are using. Obviesly age and the amount of life quality index have to be taken into account, but for me it would be best to wait till you really really feel like you need something better.

Keep ammunition in your pocket, you may need it later on.  Wink

The main thing that puts me off light treatment at the moment is that I've not long since started a new job and I'm not sure how they will be with me leaving early. Hopefully they will be ok.

I like the idea of keeping fumaderm in reserve for when I really need it but lights are a real pain to go through 3 times a week.

Decisions decisions.

At the end of the day you have to decide what is best for you. What works for some may not work for others.

Me, I couldn't be bothered with light. I wouldn't go for any oral treatment as I don't like them. But with Stelara my current treatment a small simple injection once every three months is ideal for my life at the moment.

We can all give you for and against on all treatments and it's good to share, but it's your body and you are the boss.

It's good they have given you options...... and you must do what you are comfortable with
Good luck

Hi OneBigItch! Sorry I'm slow to respond to this but afraid I haven't been able to log in much this month.

I used Acitretin and it did work for me, but as you say it may not be the med for you. It IS slow acting and it's not uncommon to get worse before getting better but I'd be concerned if you are continually getting worse while taking it. It takes a couple of months to start noticing any improvements and for me, once I started to clear it went quickly.

I hope you find something that works for you!

Thought I'd give you a quick update. After being told to stop taking acitretin and to use dovodet 2 days to help calm everything, I have just been using moisturiser ever since.

Now here's the strange part, since stopping the tablets I am now over 80% clear! Its a complete turn around. My buttocks which were totally covered are now completely clear!

Has anyone else had this?

I've not used Acitretin, but a similar thing happened to me when I wanted more psoriasis RE: I need more Psoriasis

Maybe our bodies enjoy the rest, but for whatever reason just enjoy it whilst it's good.  Smile

Thanks Jim, yes its strange but I'm not arguing with it, I'm just hoping it lasts tho we are not normally that lucky are we.

I have another meeting with my dermatologist in a few weeks so if I'm still clear I'm going to ask her if its normal.

Maybe my body was so sick of acitretin it healed itself so I wouldn't put any more of that stuff in it!
