Hi folks,
new to this site but was wondering if anyone else has experienced my problem?

I have been on Stelara now for 18 months and it's a brilliant drug, I've gone from 75% body coverage to ZERO!!!
However, over the last 6 months, I have had 2 teeth snap, and, I've always had extremely strong teeth, also, 2 crowns that had been in place for 10 years or so, came lose as the roots developed cracks!
has anyone else experienced teeth problems whilst using this drug?

Hi Nigel Welcome to the club sorry I can't help with your problem, I've never used Stelara but I'm sure you will get some answers soon there are several members who swear by the drug.

Meanwhile enjoy the club there is a lot in the prescribed treatments on Stelara and other treatments,
The members here are all very friendly and there is a wealth of knowledge amongst them, which we are all happy to share with each other.
If you feel inclined go through to the off topic boards where we talk about anything and everything, not always very serious

I have been on the drug for about 1.5 years. I had some mouth issues, but it was link to another autoimmune disease.

Hi Nigel,
Welcome to the club.
I think Fred will come back to you on this issue, he is one of the most well knowledged ones on Stelara.
Personally I have never heard of any of this kind of issues with any of psoriasis drugs.

Hello Nigel Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

I've been using Stelara for just over 4 years now and have'nt had any problems in relation to it's use and any dental issues. Also I have never heard of any relation between the two.

There is nothing in the what to watch for list whilst using Stelara.
* fever, sweats, or chills
* muscle aches
* cough
* shortness of breath
* blood in your phlegm
* weight loss
* warm, red, or painful skin or sores on your body
* diarrhea or stomach pain
* burning when you urinate or urinate more often than normal
* feel very tired
* are being treated for an infection
* get a lot of infections or have infections that keep coming back

Here are some threads about Psoriasis and dental that may be of interest
Gum disease linked to psoriasis
Psoriasis and oral health
However I would say your best option would be to talk with your dentist and dermatologist about your concerns, and please do come back and keep us updated as your input could help others.

Regards.

Fred.

I have gum and inside mouth issues developing as well.  I believe it is related to Stelara since the timing is aligned.  My doctor suggests 1mg folic acid to reduce mouth/gum inflamation and soreness.  I am looking for other measures to improve my gum health.

I'm afraid I can't help with that problem as I'm not on any of the biological drugs. But thought I would just come and say welcome to the club Welcome

That's very interesting Nigel as I recently broke two front teeth eating pork crackling which I blamed on Mrs Dave as she insisted on having a hot pork sandwich .
I have been on Stelara for about 5 years now and tiredness really is the only problem that i have had though I have had a couple of migraines on week 9 for the last 5 sessions which are 10 week between Stelara injections now .
Interesting about the folic acid , I have an appointment with the dermatologist in May and will ask him about it.

I was only on Stelara for one year, but I didn't experience any dental problems during that time.
