You haven't hijacked it. You are giving your opinion. Yes the thread has attracted posts that maybe could be classed as turning into a debate. But Smegs did say she "wasn't sure what to do" and did ask for help.

None of us are professionals and our posts are only our personal opinions, Methorexate will always attract posts from our members but as far as I can see no one has hijacked the thread.

But if no one is happy, then please let me know and I'll close it.

Not at all TL. Like I said we all have an opinion. I personally don't think anyone has said anything wrong.

You were right it has become a debate about methotrexate, but we are still on topic.

We are after all a forum, and as long as we respect each other then we can support each other too.

But you are right the most important thing is to support Smegs when she feels low. But I can't help speaking my mind as some have found out.  Rolleyes

What about creams? Have you tried any of those? Creams are safe to take with MTX and may help a bit with scaling and itching.

Personally I cannot understand why things aren't done the other way around. i.e. Use the fastest treatments like Cosentyx to get serious illness under control rapidly, then maintain the patient with medications like DMF.

It's hard to compare the il-17s to anything else on the market simple because of the aggressiveness of the loading dose. Are they superior to what currently on the market or is there simply something to the aggressive loading dose?

Another thing to consider is the failure of the maintenance dose. The doctor will be caught in a real pickle then.

It seems to control things quickly from what I see on PC Matari, but I acknowledge that my experience is of one systemic treatment only. I have never seen a dermatologist or rheumatologist either, so I have not had to seek treatment within a healthcare framework. I dont advocate what I have done, but it does make me view things differently.

Hi everyone  Rolleyes
So sorry for the late reply .. been feeling very sorry for myself and all in all just had a rubbish few weeks .
Can I start by saying no offence has been taken in any of of your views or opinions  Thumb
I completely take on board what you have said .
Right now I'm just at the point where I don't know what to do for the best , but right now this has drove me crazy . My skin I can cope with to a certain point but my scalp is a different story .. no matter what lotions / potions I try honestly nothing works at all  Angry
I have tried all the usual creams the Derm has prescribed and used them for so long .. they didn't even stick to a timeframe for me to use .. I used them for years on and off but I'm not sure why as they didn't work ! The only thing that helped was light therapy but I can't do that as I suffer terrible with prickly heat ( dobt have much luck so i )
As I'm typing I am at my appointment with the nurse so will update you all in what rubbish she will palm me off with
Thank you all again for all your help

Soooo  Angry I kind of kicked up a little fuss .. not because I wanted to just for the pure frustration. As I'm trying hard to stand my ground I almost started to cry where all this has really got to me  Sad
The nurse kind of disagrees with most of the information you lot have gave me and insists that this is how they do things !
I told her I started on 5mg's and after 4 weeks got increased to 10mg and 3 months later I am here .. it is not good enough . Had I of had regular 4 week appointments on their guidelines of an increase of 2.5mg a time I would still be on a higher dose than what I am now and maybe would have started to see clearance rather than the P getting worse !
From the last derm I saw I was under the impression that there was no longer a derm at this hospital as he was leaving .. she has just told me there is a derm here .. there all the time apparently!!! Why was I not sent to the derm doctor then ? She has no idea why ggrrrrr  Angry
I am sat outside the derm's room waiting to see if the doctor will see me but she is busy .. not holding out much hope

Not much of a help that nurse and apparently very little knowledge. The things we all mentioned over here are born out of pure experience of us sufferers ourselves. She can disagree, but she is plain wrong.

As you are there anyway, I would just stick there and continue to insist to see the Derm. Keep an eye on it that he doesn't try to sneak through the back door.
Accept no apology and don't go away until you have spoken him, and have made a direct appointment with him in the near future.

We over here are all standing behind you and will try to support you with everything that happens over there.

Bigarm Caroline
