Zdravei Sophia,

Welcome to Psoriasisclub.

There may be another approach for you. Instead of Fumaderm, you can also order Psorinovo from the Netherlands. The last is the way more advanced version. As it is a slow release version and does not have the additions that Fumaderm has, it is far better to tolerate in your intestines.
As your doctor is prescribing it anyway from an online store, you can do that also from the Netherlands one.
I have been years on it and it was very well tolerable.
And there is a good change you will do well on DMF. Bill and Jim have already provided you with good suggestions.

If you want to know more, let me know.

Cheers,
Caroline

Yes Psorinovo is available from the Netherlands and is the pure DMF with slow release

It is believed to be the additions in Fumaderm that makes it more difficult to tolerate. Whereas in the Netherlands where Caroline is from they use Psorinovo tablets ....and can take much higher doses if needed as they don't have additives
Again worth thinking about   Thumb and talking to your prescriber about it ...I'm sure Caroline will give you more information

I think it's unlikely as the DMF breaks down (I believe) in your intestines and converts to something harmless, but caroline knows the process of how the DMF works ...so I hope she comes and can explain better than me

Caroline has done a technical thread here on DMF Dimethylfumarates and Psoriasis but it is technical but well worth a read about the mechanism of how Fumaderm / DMF works

DMF breaks quite quickly down in the intestines into MMF, monomethylfumarate. This is the real working substance. Fumarates are an essential part of the energy cycle of your cells. See the picture of the citric acid cycle.

It has an extremely diverse working in your body, lots of research has been done and more is being conducted and it appears that it has more and more possibilities then we ever expected. For Psoriasis it has several effects in modulating certain substances and regulating cells, which is why it is working.
But ... DMF is irritating for your intestines. This may and will cause your nausea. I recognise that.
The form of DMF I used, is as I told earlier a slow release version. It takes longer and spreads better in the intestines which is why they are less irritated than with Fumaderm.
The nausea, yes, it is there, and what I did was to ignore it. Just refusing to feel sick. And that worked, because I could say to myself: "you are not really sick, it is just the pills."

Im. sorry I don't know the answer to that, perhaps another user here might know .....I am under the impression that it clears your body quite quickly.... it seems strange that it only just started a few days ago......after you were tolerating it for a while.

Have you stopped the tablets now?

I would start at the level you were ok with ....normally I would say ask your dermatologist but as you are in the US he's unlikely to be able to advise...

It will depend how long you stop for how far back you need to go ...but yes you shouldl be safe going to one tablet a day if you are off for too long, then build up again at a slower rate and stick at a level you are comfortable with

I don't know your size and I won't ask ...but if you are small framed you might not need a high dose to clear you.....have you noticed any change in your psoriasis since starting on the Fumaderm ?
