Sorry Jiml, on my phone the last letter looked like an i Wink
Caroline, very interesting to know that you the people behind psorinovo personally! I have to say; I found this forum because I was searching for mor information on how dmf works. I spent the last days searching like crazy in pub med etc. And I have 2 deadlines and en exam coming up  Whistle but it is all so fascinating to read.

I found a study suggesting that aspirin could deal with the flushing. Do you know something about that? Or is flushing "necessary"?

I have written a whole thread on DMF. It is in this thread Dimethylfumarates and Psoriasis, are you having an exam on DMF? What kind of study are you doing then ? Smile

I have never heard of aspirin dealing with the flushing, but it is possible, it is more a subject for Bill I think.
The flushing is of course one of the very minor side effects.
It even can have therapeutic effects, I have heard of a Psorinovo user who also had the disease of meunière, but because of the flushes, the blood coming again at places where it could not come before, he was also freed from his Meunieres.

Additional... there are piles of information on reseach on DMF. It is already sooo old. Still most dermatologists are only now discovering it.
It was in the so called "verdomhoekje", as there was hardly any money to be earned. The pharmaceuts like to sell biologicals much more.

There is also the very detailed book of Nicolle Litjens, immunomodulAry effects of fumarates. Very good book.

Yes, that's the thread I found!

And sorry for all the spelling errors; I'm typing from my phone so I tend to skip some letters by mistake.

I  study "sociaal pedagogisch hulpverlening", so definitely not dmf related, haha

I will look for that book, thanks!

And yes; when I read about dmf I was happy and disappointed at the same time. Happy that there's a relatively safe and easy solution but absolutely disappointed and sad why no one told me about this before. My dermatologist told me that a lot of her colleagues just didn't know about it a few years ago.

The one I have now is young, I think she's about my age, maybe a few years older.

You will find stuff about aspirin stopping flushing with the blurb about Tecfidera. I have never tried it for this purpose.

Yes, Indeed, Why isn't it more known. It has been around for a very long time already and the effects on Psoriasis are already very long known, about 50 years. It is a very long and complex story if you would dive into it, but I think it comes down to basically two points.
1. It is very cheap, so you hardly can earn anything, that is why it wasn't picked up by industry, but only by a few doctors aiming only at the patients well being.
2. It was first found by an ordinary doctor, not by the university specialists. I think 'establishment' has also played a large role.

It is very good that new and young doctors are now more open to it.

Just remember that Aspirin can cause stomach bleeds in some people. It may be worth checking with your Doctor prior to going on to Aspirin over a long period of time.

Hi Maryam, welcome to the friendliest site that you will find and the only site that I have come across with the most information that you will find all backed up with people who have the problem which means that any questions you ask will be answered by the same people who know what they are talking about from personal experience.
There is nobody trying to sell you expensive rubbish as they have on other sites as Fred will not allow it just truthful discussion so have a good look around and ask any questions you like.

That´s exactly what the dermatoligist told me; it's cheap, it can't be patented and although they know it works, it's still kind of "of the grid" to prescribe it.
