Great to read you are still clear schnauzerlover. It looks as if diet has helped you get and stay clear it's interesting that you are now adding
foods back and are wisely taking your time to monitor any changes
Thanks for updating I found it an interesting read  Thumb

Great to hear you're having success. Sounds like you've gone a long way to healing your gut! I've been eating "normally" now for about 18 months and haven't had any problems. Food allergies are no longer apparent, even in excess sometimes Blush

Update time Wave

I have recently tested adding back some foods.  It all started with me trying some rice crackers and bagels that had potato starch in them.  As potatoes are a nightshade vegetable, I was hesitant as they were a major trigger for my psoriasis.  As it had been 16 months, I thought I would try, and to my surprise I got no reaction.  So then I jumped in head first and ate some organic tater tots, again no reaction, and I have successfully eaten them 5 more times with no reaction.  I then tried green peppers, two times without a reaction, and last night ate some food with red pepper on it without causing a flare.  So it seems as though peppers (another nightshade) are not causing any flaring.  The next test will be tomatoes, that was my biggest trigger.  I will brave it up this next week and try tomatoes, so I am keeping my fingers crossed.  I have been really vigilant about taking marshmallow root twice a day, setting timers on my phone to remind me.  I think it has been a big helper with gut healing.

Catch you later! Thumb

Wow, this is looking quite well.
What I wonder on your side is what kind of Psoriasis you apparently have. This because researchers have found genetic dependencies with people with Psoriasis.
I do not think that a diet can change this dependencies, though it might be possible that the diet changes the vulnerability of the triggers.

On the other hand, if your Psoriasis is bacterial based, it can make quite some sense that cleaning your gut, will gradually remove all the triggers that you had in your body.

Thanks for the update ! Thumb

Great news I'm pleased you have got clear and are able to reintroduce trigger foods with no effect
I hope adding tomatoes will be ok for you and you can keep the clearance going

Long may it continue Thumb Thanks for the update

So during the week I have tried tomato catsup 3 times and tomato salsa (last night) without causing any flaring.  Tomatoes were a major trigger for my plaque psoriasis, so this is very promising and possibly indicates that my 17 months of working on healing my gut lining may have produced some results.

I am going to continue to take marshmallow root, drink bone broth, take proteolytic enzymes, vitamins and minerals as maintenance.  I am not going to push ingestion of trigger foods, just occasionally enjoy having them back in my diet, and paying close attention to how my body reacts.  I am also going to not ingest things that could re-compromise my gut lining, like pharmaceutical drugs, over the counter pain killers, antibiotics, hormones, pesticides/herbicides, heavy metals (seafood).  I am going to continue to eat non-GMO, organic when possible, low sugar, no/low processed foods, hormone/antibiotic/nitrate/nitrite free/uncured meat when possible.  I am also going to continue to eat anti-fungal foods and probiotic foods (coconut yogurt, kombucha)/take probiotics, at different times daily to support the gut biome.  I am going to keep the alcohol consumption to a minimum (2 shots max every 2 weeks ( I used to be a heavy drinker (4-5 nights a week 4-5 drinks!)).

In my opinion drinking alcohol, birth control pills (20 years), antibiotics taken daily for acne (for 10+ years), taking Aleve for headaches and eating GMO/processed foods full of chemicals (MSG), antibiotics, hormones, pesticides, herbicides and heavy metals compromised my gut lining.

Thanks for your support and I hope my sharing of my experience can help others with their psoriasis.

I will keep you updated if something arises Wave .

Best of luck to everyone in finding answers and help with your journey.

Thanks for the update, it certainly seems as if you have achieved a lot with diet and now adding trigger foods back in without causing a flare up, well done I'm impressed ....I wish I had the will power to do what you did but sadly I like too many of the bad foods and I have no will power, and rely on drugs to achieve clearance
