I'm about to start Taltz tomorrow. I'm excited after reading a few posts but I have a question. I'm a pretty fat guy with a big ol belly. I always used an autopen with Humira (Did nothing for me) in my leg. I never minded the slight pain. I've got the prefilled syringe for Taltz. Would you old pros still recommend I try to do it in my stomach even though I'm really fat there? Or should I suck it up and try the legs?

Hi Tim,

Welcome to psoriasisclub.  Welcome
Good question. Didn’t your dermatologist have a suggestion for that? Maybe you can give him/her a quick call?

I would think that your leg, in the sense of the quick dissolving into your blood would be a sensible thing to do, in your belly it will take a bit longer to dissolve. But you do need a doctor’s opinion to really know that.

It is obvious that in your belly the syringe will hurt less. I have self injected (not Taltz), in my leg and it really hurts, changing to my belly was a relief.

Cheers,
Caroline

The more fat you have in your belly the better as you need to pinch an inch. I have been injecting pre-filled syringes for around 10 years now, and the belly is the easiest and less painful.

It makes no difference on it's effectiveness where you inject. You could inject in your upper arm or even you bum if you prefer, but I have found the belly wins hands down and I have plenty of belly.  Big Grin

Welcome to Psoriasis Club by the way.  Wave

Fred.

Fred.

I agree with Fred the belly is best !!! I have always injected there , the MTX for many years and now the Stelara for over 5 years.

I’m on Taltz currently and I only do it into my belly as the one time I did my leg I found it more painful.

Hi by the way Wave
