So blood tests were fine and I started methotrexate on Tuesday. 4x2.5mg tablets to be taken once week and a folic acid tablet to be taken once a week on a different day.

Do side effects build up the longer you're on mtx? Cause I've felt nothing in the way of side effects from my first dose or the test dose I had the other week. Not sure if that means I'm going to tolerate it well or if the side effects come after being on it a while?

You may be ok on it with little in the way of side effects , I was the same and it took several years before the side effects built up. Best of luck Dave.

Just a little update. Been on mtx two weeks now, took my third dose today. No change to my skin yet but also no side effects that I've noticed.

It’s good that you have no side effects yet but a shame there’s no movement on the Psoriasis yet but it is still early

What dose are you on ( I might have asked before but I forget )

It’s quite a low dose but if it doesn’t work soon I would ask the dermatologist if you can up the dose
I was at 25 mg when I finished on it

The max weekly dose of MTX is 30 mg, but since most generics contain more active ingredient, they typically don’t give out more than 25 mg.

For psoriasis, the maintenance dose is 10 mg. For active disease, 15 mg is recommended. It’s not surprising to see a low does to start - mtx is hard on the stomach. By any chance, do you have blood test coming up?
