Skilerance is a great drug and works but the side affects for me on 120 mg is not bearable.
I've tried it with food and yogurt, I've even cut the tablet in half and hid it in a soft sweet and swallowed half in the morning and half late afternoon but the cramps i get and sweats and going red is crazy.
I need to inform my dermatologist but after being on methotrexate and cyclosporine, I don't now what other options I have.
Any suggestions would be welcome as i'm sure you all know how i'm feeling.
Huh

Shame it's not for you and you have given it a fair try ..I'm gutted for you ...I will just say that the side effects do improve with time but for you they are unbearable ...but it's not the end there are many options the dermatologist can give you there are a whole raft of biological drugs for you to try and I'm sure one of them will be the one to work without the grief of cramps
You can read about biological drugs here Biological Treatments For Psoriasis and be ready when the dermatologist mentions them
Good luck and do let us know what the dermatologist offers you next

That is a shame Fasteddie, it can take a while to get the right treatment for you but there are plenty of other things to try. I see Jim has given you a link to the Bio's, I'm a big fan as they gave me back my life.

Have a read up on them and arm yourself with information ready for your next appointment.

Good luck.

Hi Eddie,

Was it working for you at a lower dose with tolerable side effects? You may be able to continue with 30mg tablets. Some people are very sensitive to the drug.

Cheers

Hi Bill yes the lower dose didn't give me so many side affects but didn't really work either.

Well, I guess that would put the kybosh on Skilarence for you, Eddie. Hopefully you will get a go with a biologic drug.

Cheers

Hi Bill yes the lower dose didn't give me so many side affects but didn't really work either.

Probably you belong to the group of people who are too sensitive for it. So a slow release dose would also not help with you, I guess.
Indeed next step will be a biological.
They are probably going to try out some with you.

In the current number of “Psoriasis” the magazine of the Dutch patients community there is an article about the BIOMAP project. A worldwide project which has the purpose to find all the markers that are involved in psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis. The ultimate goal is to in the end analyse the blood of a patient and on the base of the markers being able to exactly pinpoint which treatment suits the best for that patient. So you will have a personalised approach and all the trying will not be necessary anymore.
